CHAPTER SIXTY-THREE
( EDGE )

A SOFT MELODIC voice is ringing in her ear, calling for her, begging for her to regain her consciousness. The voice sounded southern feminine, for a moment she could see her mom calling for her. She imagined her standing over her bed, blonde hair askew in a messy bun and robe draped over her. Her green eyes sunken in from the loss of sleep. She called for her again, shaking her a bit to rouse her. She didn't know why she was being roused, she wasn't a child anymore. But her stomach fell to the floor as she called for her over and over again, a sense of dread washing over her. Her mother's voice grew weary, relentless, then at that moment she knew why her mother was calling for her: Max. She wore the same shade of pajamas that her face had turned into attempting to call for her, maroon. The tears were now starting to stream from her eyes like a faucet that wouldn't turn off. Max. Max. Max. She screwed her eyes shut. Letting her know that this was a dream and it'd all be over.
"Miss Cruise!"
When she opened her eyes she gasped for air, frightened and confused by her surroundings. She clutches at her chest, feeling the rhythmic thumping of her racing heart. She would've mistaken being at the Kentucky derby with the rate her heart was pumping. She recalled her surroundings a bit at a time. The metal table, the clear computer monitor, the shattered glass scattered throughout the room. Then the view of the city, still dark. The city was quieter than what she was used to. It must've been the middle of the night.
"Miss Cruise, it's me. It's FRIDAY." The voice calls to her again, causing her to swivel her head around. FRIDAY? The voice was Scottish, friendly, and sweet as it called out to her again. "Don't be frightened." Her senses calmed down again as she started to piece together what had happened when she had previously been awake. The new A.I. Tony had given her access to. She tapped her ears, feeling for the earpieces that had centered in her ear canals. Still there.
"You scared the ever-loving shit out of me." she huffs, clicking on the computer monitor. It immediately opened up to a web page regarding vibranium, what its functions are, how it affects the environment if there were any deposits left. She clicked her tongue. They were in the middle of tracking vibranium through the web using EDGE's tracking. It was all starting to piece together. She wondered at what point she had nodded off.
"Apologies Miss Cruise. I think I have something on the vibranium." FRIDAY informs her. Her eyes widened with surprise. She couldn't imagine Ultron making it that easy to find the deposit of unobtainable metal. "Yeah?" she questions, her voice littered with sarcasm. She wondered if the A.I. would even pick it up. The glasses she had worn for the past few hours slid back down onto the bridge of her nose as she looked at the screen.
She pulled up EDGE which showed a bright red alert. It had found it. "There appears to be a large deposit in Sokovia," FRIDAY announces. She grabs what's left of the energy drink she had gotten from the vending machine in the lobby, she had been irritated that the coffee stand wasn't open. She'd be much better if there was an espresso in her rather than Stark's version of Red Bull. "That's where Ultron is then. Where?" she clarifies, trying to coordinate the exact location to ping the team. The sooner she was done here, the sooner she could sleep and she desperately needed sleep. "Pulling up a thermal view." Behind her, she could hear the static of a television spark to life, however, when she turned there was no television but a glitchy version of a hologram.
