I stare at the text message once again, unsure whether I should believe my eyes.

"Let's break up."

There is nothing wrong with my eyesight.

Hands trembling, I type a "why".

I wait and wait, hoping everything is just a mistake or a stupid prank. Guys always do those, right?

I will just chide him, pretend to ignore him for a short while, then reconcile and everything will go back to the way it was.

The answer finally comes, hours later. Just a simple "Your texts are suffocating."

"Do you really not like me anymore?" I hesitantly press send, close to tears.

My hopes are dashed with his monosyllabic "yes".

"I was always uncomfortable holding hands or doing intimate stuff with you." He continues in the next message as if breaking up wasn't enough.

I don't understand him anymore. Who had I been dating these past few months? The man on the other side of the screen seems foreign. Wasn't he the one who instigated all this romance? Wasn't he the one who fell for me first?

I don't understand.

I don't understand.

What is going on?

Is this all a sick joke?

"Can I call you?" Maybe a call can resolve any misunderstanding that might have caused him to make such a sudden decision.

"I've made it clear enough haven't I? I don't like you anymore."

He goes offline, leaving me in tears.

Author's note:

This is my friend's story. The guy really sounds similar to me.

When she revealed this to us, everyone was saying how much I acted like this guy and how I acted like a guy in general.

The guy should have accepted the call to explain. Text is just insincere. I'm glad to see that my friend is ok though.
