daily train

Haley was waiting for her best friend. It was a busy Wednesday morning and the station was flooded with people. Slightly overwhelmed, Haley hid herself in an inconspicuous corner, texting her friend more specific directions as to where she was.

Soon, a familiar face appeared in the crowd of strangers. Upon noticing Haley, the girl ran over.

"I'm sorry for being late..." She said, slightly panting from the sudden morning exercise. Haley told her that it was fine, indicating with a small smile that they should board the train.

Fortunately for them, most of the morning crowd had left with the last train, allowing them to grab seats pretty easily.

"Shall we listen to some music?"

Haley nodded as a reply.

Together, they sat on the train, listening to trendy tunes on the radio. Haley's hands wandered towards the girl's bag, tracing her fingers across the various zippers and thread lines.

Her fingers continued to roam, down the bag, and onto the girl's hand. With a cheeky grin, Haley laced their fingers together and watched as red slowly crept up the girl's cheeks. "Don't do that..." The girl retorted softly. Still, she did not resist.

They stayed this way, together but silent. After all, they were both up late calling each other and were now hazy with sleep. The silence wasn't awkward, in fact it felt nice, just appreciating each other's quiet company amid the clatter in and of the train.

All too soon, the train pulled into Haley's station. Haley got up to leave, slowly and unwillingly pulling her fingers away from the small ones that held hers. Their touch lingered for a second longer before Haley bid the girl goodbye. "I'll text you," She whispered and the girl nodded in reply.

Haley watched as the train ran further and further away from view. It was a pity, Haley really wanted to spend more time with her. On the brighter side, Haley could meet her again tomorrow, as long as she survived this long and tiring day.
