I decided not to empty out my suitcase yet. I had just gotten here and what if things didn't work well? At least I won't have to pack up again.
I changed into my scrubs and pulled my hair up into a ponytail, I then hear a knock on my door.
I open it and see Doctor Ashley there.
"Alexandra-"

"Please, call me Alex" I say, I didn't like people calling me by my full name, it was too long

"Alex, Mr. Anderson has awoken and is ready to meet you." He says

I follow him downstairs to a private room and he opens the door. I walk in and it feels like déjà vu. The room resembled a hospital room, from the bed to the shelves. It was crazy!

"Ace has a room upstairs where he is now able to stay in again. However all treatment will be done in the care room here. All the supplies you need are in this closer right here" the doctor says pointing to a big closet door.

I see a man sitting on a chair with his back to us. He was looking out a window to a beautiful view of trees and nature.
He was wearing a robe and looked tired and defeated. His head was all bandaged up and when I come closer to him, I notice that you can only see his eyes and his mouth.

"Ace, how are you feeling this morning?" The doctor asks now standing beside the patient who's name I believe is Ace.

He doesn't bother looking at the doctor and continues staring out the window "go away Ashley" he mumbles

"I wanted you to meet your new nurse who will be taking care of you. She is one of the bests in New York and is her-" Ace cuts him off

"I TOLD YOU, I don't want a fricken nurse!" He yells turning to face him

"Ace, we have been through this. You need someone to care for you when I'm not around. It's safety protocols and you need the help" this only pisses him off even more

But before he could let Ace say anything, he introduces me
Oh fuck

"This is Alexandra. She will be staying here to look after you" he says
I walk up to him and stick my hand out

We make eye contact and I can't help but stare into his blue blue eyes.... he looked young, maybe mid to late 20s...I snap out of it
He only gives me a glare and doesn't shake my hand
HE DOESN'T SHAKE MY HAND
I put my hand down and already have a pissed off look

He faces the window again and mumbles "send her back. I don't want her"

"Anderson this is not something to argue about. She is here and is here to stay; now if you could please let her do her job." The doctor says

The doctor shows me the patients charts and tells me to change his bandages everyday. After understanding what I need to do, he tells me to change his head bandage
I pull out some gauze and other medical items

"Don't" Ace says as I go near him

"Sir I need to change your bandages. Please if you could allow me-" he cuts me off

"No. Your not taking off my bandages. Unless you want to be scared for life. I don't need anyone pitying me" he says

"Ace she's only trying to do her job" the doctor says

"Then send her home. I don't need her to be scared of my hideous face, for her to start feeling bad and pitying me. I don't need anyone to be forced to take care of me" he says with anger

Ok this shit only snaps me
"You know what mr. Anderson? I don't pity you. There are so many people out in the world that are starving for food, That are dying because of a disease and that are being hurt because of how they are treated. If I had to feel pity, I would feel bad for them. Not for you. I don't feel a zero ounce of pity on you because your not dying. You were in an accident and now your are receiving treatment to recover. And Don't tell me that I'm going to be scared!" I yell

"I have been doing this for a very VERY long time and I've seen far more worse than you. Trust me. THIS is my job and I wasn't forced to come here but I was asked and I accepted the position. Now if you will allow me to do my job otherwise there are many other people out there that really do need my help" I say with anger at his little arrogant ass

Holy fuck

He doesn't say anything after that but stays put in his chair letting out a puff of air
I start to un bandage his face and notice that he was waiting to see me squirm under the sight. I didn't. I've honestly seen far more worse and it's part of my job.
Right before I finish, the doctor receives a call and leaves the room
I finish up and put back the supplies into the closet

The whole time, he doesn't say a word. Right before I'm about to leave the medical room, I ask if he needs me to get him anything else

He stands up and walks up to me standing only
Inches away from my face
He looks me in the eye and I for some reason hold my breath

"Is there anything else I could get for you sir?" I ask

He continues to look me in the eye then abruptly turns around

"Leave" is all he says before I open the door and get out

Well then. That went well
