"Good morning wife" Ace says as he comes down the stairs
I let a chuckle escape "Good morning, are you ready?" I ask him
"Ready than ever" he says buttoning up the last few buttons on his shirt
I hear a knock on the door until Molly opens it revealing Doctor Ashley
"Morning to you both. I hope the honeymooning is over because it's time to get going" Doctor Ashley says to us both
"Oh god, honeymoon my ass. Go fix him" I say pushing Ace gently on the back towards Dr. Ashley
"Alright aright, time to go"
Right before they leave, Ace turns towards me and catches my eyes
"I just wanted to say, thank you for everything Alex." Is the last thing he says to me before leaving
For some reason, it felt like he was saying goodbye for good...
I spend the rest of the day basically doing nothing.
I chat with Molly a bit and learn that she's been working for Ace for 3 years now. She's a really nice and kind woman in her late 40s.
"So Molly, you work here 6 days a week?" I ask her while munching on a salad
"Yes dear. From 8am to 8pm 6 days a week. On my day off, I spend time with my family. I have 2 sons and 1 daughter" she says with a smile thinking of her family
"Aw, that's so cute" I say
"What about you dear Alex? Are you here everyday?" She asks
"Ya, I'm here everyday. I don't have any family to get back to so..." I say with a sigh
She doesn't get a chance to say anything as the phone starts ringing
Molly walks to the house phone and picks it up "Hello?" She says
I get up to go put my plate in the sink when I suddenly hear Molly let out a scream
I drop my plate onto the floor shattering into many pieces and I run to the other room to find Molly on the ground crying with the phone on the floor
"Molly! What happened" I yell and go to her
"I-I, m-mr. A-Anderson, he-he" my hearts starts racing at the sound of his name
Oh god. No.
"Mr.A-Anderson got into a c-car a-accident" She says and continues crying even more
"He what!?" I say in shock, car accident?
I pick up the phone and hear Doctor Ashley on the line
"Alex!? Alex listen to me" he says
"Doctor Ashley? What happened? Is everything ok" I ask in a panic
"Alex, I'm sorry. Ace is dead-" is the last thing I hear him say before the whole world turned silent.
Everything was just. Silent.
I feel a cold breeze hit me and get goosebumps I felt cold. Really cold.
I wanted a jacket, badly. I needed a jacket.
I grab the nearest thing which was a blanket in the living room and cover myself with it before realizing I was sitting on the sofa with a blanket thrown over me as my tears were streaming down my face.
This wasn't real. This couldn't be real. This is a joke, Ace is not dead. He was-he, he was just here.
I couldn't believe this was happening. I feel two arms grab my shoulders and realize that Doctor Ashley was shaking me and talking to me. I snap out of a daze and see that its dark outside I must have been sitting here for hours
"Alex. ALEX!" He yells one more time causing me to face him
"Huh?" I ask confused I notice I'm leaning on the sofa with a blanket wrapped around me, how long have I been here?
"Alex dear, go up to your room. You need to sleep, you've been sitting here for almost 12 hours" he says
12 hours? No I haven't. What?
I however don't question him. I stand up like a zombie and walk up to my room.
I lie on my bed and stare at the blank wall in front of me. I was in a state of shock. I wasn't crying anymore. I was just, in shock. And I was confused
** I open my eyes and turn to face my alarm clock that read 2pm. I'm hit with a wave of confusion until the events of yesterday come hitting me back again.
Ace.
I get out of my bed and see my reflection in the mirror. My eyes were all puffy underneath and I looked disgusting. Walking down the stairs, I see Doctor Ashley and a few other people all gathered around in the living room.
What was going on?
"Doctor Ashley?" I ask in confusion
"Alex, how are you feeling?" He asks with a sad smile as he gets up and walks over to me
"Wh-what happened? Where's Ace-" he cuts me off
"I'm sorry Alex. Come sit down" he says and guides me to a seat
"Ace was in the ambulance being taken to the hospital. I had to go to another clinic first before going to the hospital so I was in my own car. As I was driving to the hospital, I receive a call from the police telling me that Ace's ambulance had been in a car accident, the ambulance flipped over and gas leaked causing the ambulance to explode. Alex dear, there were no survivors, they weren't even able to identify the bodies" he says holding my hand with tears slipping down both our faces
I close my eyes letting the tears escape
"I'm sorry Alex, but he's gone"
He's gone
