Squip: The Squip just shuts off for a while, fighting it off. They aren't gone long since computer's time passes much slower than human's. But in that time, the user cannot talk to the Squip. Once the Squip comes back, they review the user's memory. Any time a Squip is acting peculiar and not shutting off, it's an error in their personal system, not a virus.
Supernova: How long can they shut off for?
Squip: Anywhere from thirty seconds to an hour. In some extremely rare cases, it can take up to around three days.
