Olivia's POV:

"So Derek was the werewolf who bit Scott which also turned him into a werewolf?" I ask once Allison finishes telling me the whole deal and history with the werewolves and hunters situation. "And your family basically has hunting in their blood?"

"No, that was Peter, Derek's uncle." She corrected, never taking her eyes off the road. "And yes, it goes on for centuries."

"I thought you said Derek was the alpha?"

"He became the alpha by killing Peter."

"And is that good? Is he on our side?"

She gives an uneasy expression. "I mean before he somewhat worked together with Scott to stop his uncle from continuing the killing sprees on innocent people. Now that he's the alpha, Scott found out that Derek bit Isaac the other night since he's trying to form his own pack."

"So he was the guy in the mustang?" I say and she nods again. "And his uncle was the one who ki--excuse me, took your aunt's life away? All for revenge?" I say and she tightens her grip on the steering wheel.

"Yeah." She mutters, slowing her car down once we got to a red light. "A couple of years ago, she burned down the Hale house that was filled with werewolves and humans, killing almost all of them."

"Peter."

"He and Derek survived but still, Kate broke our code. 'We hunt those who hunt us.' Those innocent people didn't deserve their lives to be lost, because that led to Peter go into this frenzy a-and she--" Her voice began to shake as tears started to form in her eyes.

I place my hand on her knee so it would stop shaking. She gives a weak smile then wipes her tears. "I watched Peter slice her throat. Kate died in front of my eyes while I just stood there helplessly. I felt useless, Olivia."

My eyes soften. "So it didn't help when your family found out Scott was a werewolf last year," I say and she nods sadly. "But from what I saw tonight, are you in this forbidden romance with him? How are you two hiding it so well?"

"It's been hard but we're kind of managing to sneak around. Now it's getting harder since both of my parents practically took away my privacy. I just don't understand why they can't see that he's different."

I fiddle with my fingers. "Do you agree with the code?"

She immediately shakes her head. "Of course not. Scott is my..." She stops mid-sentence and takes a breath, trying to calm herself down. "he's my boyfriend. I can't exactly hunt him down with my family. I mean, I like the feeling of shooting with a bow and arrow but at the same time, I feel like I'm betraying him. I don't want to do that to him. Also at the same time, I don't want to end up like Kate and be known as a killer." She says.

The light turns green and she presses on the gas, continuing to drive down the road again.

I move my hand away, not wanting to make things uncomfortable since she mentioned Scott being her boyfriend.

I lean against the car door, trying to sit comfortably as I fully faced her. "Even if I barely just met you today and you almost killed me with that knife," I start off and she lightly chuckles, mumbling a sorry. "I can see you mean well so I doubt you'll end up like your aunt. You'll be known as something else."

She turned to me with an amused look. "Oh yeah, and what's that?" She faced the road again.

"Your legacy would be known as someone who would do anything for the people she cares about the most." I shrug. "You have a good heart after all."

She turns to me again and even if it was dark out, I can see the blush rising on her cheeks. She wipes her eyes again but then scoffs. "Sorry, I know I'm breaking down in front of you like a baby about this when I'm supposed to feel strong. It feels good to vent to someone once in a while."
