Since it was starting to really warm up outside, Lacey bought a floral short jumpsuit that was three quarter sleeves with a deep V cut in the front. To spice it up she paired it with a thin belt and a simple sandal. She wanted to wear heels, but since she didn't know exactly where Jay was taking her, she wanted to be casual. He didn't seem like the fancy date type. Lacey wand curled her hair and picked it out some for volume. Light makeup with a red lip sealed her look.

"No sex on first date night," Drena said as Lacey talked to her on her car's bluetooth.

Lacey rolled her eyes. "Absolutely not."

"Okay, just making sure you good," Drena giggled. "You nervous?"

"Hella nervous. Like I'm really about to go on a date with Jay."

"He's just a guy."

"I know," Lacey said. "But we've been really good friends half a year and never crossed that line. Just don't want it to go bad."

"Y'all chemistry is crazy," Drena said. "I been told you that."

Lacey nodded as if Drena could see her. "Okay, I'm pulling up to the gate."

"Call me with details!"

Lacey sighed as she went to roll her window down. She heard a buzz and saw the gate open so she rolled it up and drove ahead. She got a text saying the garage was open and to pull in. Lacey sighed before giving herself a pep talk as she parked. Grabbing her purse and phone, she locked up her car and walked in through the kitchen. Cali was sitting on the island eating fruit.

"Hey pretty girl."

"Hey!" Cali said. "You look cute."

"Thank you, darlin."

"Daddy's upstairs. I'll go get him."

Lacey nodded before putting her purse on the island and sitting on one of the stools. She sent her mom a text telling her she'd made it to Jay's house before putting her phone on silent. When she heard his footsteps coming near, she bit her lip to keep from getting too excited.

"Get up and give me a hug."

Lacey rolled her eyes before she felt herself get snatched off the stool. She felt butterflies in her stomach as he pulled her close to him, hugging her waist and pushing his face into her neck.

"I missed you," she confessed as she hugged him back. That made him squeeze her a little tighter.

"Yeah?" he asked. Lacey nodded as she took in his scent. "I missed you."

"Good."

Jay chuckled. "Let's talk before we head out."

"About what?"
