A week into Jay's overseas tour and Lacey was on day 3 of ignoring his calls. It had taken him 4 days to even call her which pissed her off even more than she already was. Drena and Rici tried to convince her that it came with the territory of being with a rapper, but Lacey wasn't really trying to hear that at all.

She was scheduled to go to New York the day after Jay was supposed to come home. She didn't even want to see him but since she had his car, she didn't have a choice. She had to focus on work because that was already stressful enough. She had been doing promo videos for the event and there was a lot of press involved. Cantu's project manager for the event got in contact with her and sent over the objective of what they wanted her to do and Lacey was stressed about it.

She had taken the day off from FACE. She didn't want to rush, so she wanted to have enough time to get everything together. Before she moved around for the day, she did a video call with her mom. It still amazed Lacey how much their relationship had grown now that she was out of her mother's house.

"I just feel like I won't live up to their standards, really," Lacey admitted. "This is my first big deal with a major company. It could open a lot of doors so I don't want to mess anything up."

"I'm sure you'll be great," Tricia said, watching Lacey pace around her bedroom from the video call they were on. "You need to clean those blinds."

Lacey stopped and looked towards her window and giggled. "I'll get around to it."

"Um hum," Tricia said, smirking at her only child. "Don't make me come out there."

"I would love that actually," she said. "It's been a while since you've been out here."

Tricia smiled. "Aw, you miss your momma?"

"Always," Lacey said. They smiled at each other. "But I know you got work and Auntie and stuff so I'm not tripping."

"I'll definitely have to set something up though. Marcie got enough kids to watch out for her."

Lacey sighed, finally sitting down and taking her phone off her dresser. "How is she doing?"

"They say therapy is working, but everytime I see her she just looks like she's in pain."

"Maybe just give it time to work?" Lacey said. Tricia nodded.

"I'm going to head up there Friday when I get off work. Oh, I forgot to tell you my job is moving departments in Mississippi."

"You're moving there?" Lacey frowned.

"Absolutely not," she said. "But they're offering buyouts to leave the job period, kind of like early retirement."

"Are you thinking about taking it?"

"It would only be like 60% of my salary so not real..."

"Momma, if you wanna take it I can cover the difference," Lacey said.
