We didn't say anything.

That was awkward.

Martinus: There... there is a food rest-

Me: Yes. Um... stop there. Whatever.

He nodded and he continued driving.

He stopped outside a restaurant. It was in the middle of nowhere.

Damn the hospital was far away from my area.
Anyway.

We got out of the car and we went inside.

There were no people.

We sat on a table and we ordered something to eat.

Then, Martinus looked at me, smiling.

Me: What's wrong?

He blinked.

Martinus: Um-

He continued looking at me.

Martinus: Nothing.

He looked outside the window.

Me: Martinus?

Martinus: Yeap?

We were looking each other again.

Me: I wanna apologize.

Martinus: For what?

Me: Well... um... because I was kinda rude this morning.

Martinus: So what?

Me: "so what"? I just-

Martinus: You still think I deserved it so why do you apologize?

I sighed.

Martinus: Answer me. You think I broke your heart. So I deserve it.

Me: Martinus you DID break my heart.

His face came closer to mine.

Martinus: You think MY heart didn't break?

My eyes got wet.

Me: I don't know.

Martinus: You don't? Then do you know how much I fucking loved you? Do you think it was easy for me to let you go?

Me: Alright let's talk about something else.

Martinus: No Y/N we'll continue till you get it inside your head.

Me: Alright what?

He held my hand.

Martinus: That our story is something different than other ones.

Me: You mean it was.

He didn't reply.
He continued looking at me.

Martinus: The thing I wanna say is that I'm not just an asshole who left you alone because he got bored of you. We broke up because-

Me: Stop. I don't know why and how this happened. My heart is broken. And it's still broken. If YOU continue doing this, it'll get worse.

Martinus: I don't want you to be mad at me.

I sighed.

Martinus: I want us to be friends.

The waiter served the food and Martinus stopped holding my hand.

We started eating.

Martinus: So... friends?

I nodded.

Me: Friends.
