The streets of Polis are crowded once again as the leaders of the clans begin to choose the hundred people who are going to join them in the bunker, little do they know, the bunker is currently inhabited.

Kane flits from person to person as he tries to assist those who need it, and stall for Octavia and Indra to find a solution that won't end in the destruction of the bunker.

I feel someone's shoulder bump into mine harshly, and I whip around to see a young black haired boy looking down on me,

"Watch where you're going, Sky scum," the boy spits, and I recall the first time I heard those words. The first person didn't enjoy what happened to him, and I highly doubt this boy will either,

"That's rude for a boy who can't even wield a sword," I retort calmly, my entire body filling with a blissful calm as my defense mechanisms kick in. The boy's face turns into a scowl as he turns to face me, his deep blue eyes glaring down at me, before shifting towards my blades strapped to my back,

"Whatever," he grumbles before turning away, but as soon as I feel that adrenaline begin to wear off, I leap forward, not wanting the pain to return for even a second.

I don't even know what I'm doing as my first connects with his face, sending the boy falling to the ground in front of me,

"What the fuck?" He shouts loudly as his hand goes to the already bruised part of his face. I simply shrug my shoulders, my brain not even acknowledging the pain as I take another step forward.

He seems to cower away from me as I take a step towards him, and for a split second, I think of pushing him further, but a hand on my shoulder alerts me back to my senses,

"Kat, what are you doing?" Kane's voice bounces around in my head, and I purse my lips before turning around, away from the boy who is sill lying on the ground, holding his bleeding nose,

"He was rude," I state simply, pushing past him, the adrenaline I once had leaving as soon as it had came, leaving my body feeling as broken and useless as it had before,

"Katarina Lily  Evans you stop right there," I nearly jump at the use of my full name, and I come to a complete stop, the grounders around me sending me wary glances as they walk around me. I turn around slowly, a mask of calm on my face as I turn to face Kane,

"Look, I know you're dealing with a lot right now but-"

"No, you don't know Kane. No one knows. Roan is dead. Clarke is being an idiot, and I have nothing left but an unborn child who might not even see the light of day," I snap, and I half expect for him to back down, instead, he moves forward, wrapping his arms around me tightly,

"I lost her too. So yes, I know how it feels," my stomach clenches at the words, and the image of my young, beautiful mother fills my mind. I had nearly forgotten the loss Kane had been through when she was floated,

"After she was gone, I thought I could join her by breaking a few laws, but that night I saw you, alone and crying in your old unit. I stood there, and for a split second, I thought I saw her. You have so much of her inside you, her strength, her compassion.. her love. And I found my reason to keep living. Now you have yours," His hand rests gently on my stomach before walking away, moving to talk to one of the many clan leaders as he attempts to help them select their people to join us in the bunker.

His words leave me with a tangled web of emotions, most of them I have no intentions of facing. I look above me to see dark, tumultuous clouds hanging over us, and I groan as I slowly make my way into the tower, knowing that soon enough, everyone will follow after me.

I roam the nearly empty halls as I look at all the deserted rooms, including mine. My eyes go to the closed door, and my teeth dig into the side of my cheek as I place my hand on the door, slowly easing it open.
