Cheryl's POV
I've loved Toni since the day I met her.
We're best friends and sometimes I think she feels the same.
She wants to get married someday so bad.
She wants her grandpa officiating the service, she wants it in a barn, and magnolias. She wants it to be perfect.
She always said she only wanted close friends to save money.
I got the invite in the mail today
You are invited to the wedding of Toni Topaz and Reggie Mantle.
I guess I'm too late.
One night a few months ago we almost kissed and it seemed like she was into it- but then Reggie walked in.
I know her family doesn't like Reggie
They don't know they aren't the only ones,
I know Toni barely likes him
She likes girls more anyways.
I walk in to the service with my pale pink dress that goes to my ankle
Her mom is welcoming the guests and I pause
I could go find her
Go see if she feels the same way
But it's not fair to her
I sit at the back and down one of these cocktails before doing one of the shots that I brought myself.
"Slow down blossom," Ronnie says sitting next to me "you aren't getting married,"
Does she think I don't know this?
"I know,"
"What's wrong?"
"I love her Veronica. Always have, and I thought I'd have a chance,"
I take another shot and sigh
"I'll be alone forever,"
The wedding starts and Toni gives me a small smile and walks past me
We haven't talked since the invite came in the mail
She gets to the front and holds Reggie's hands
They keep talking until her grandfather asks if anyone objects to the union
She looks directly at me
Does she want me to?
The door is right behind me so I sneak out with only Toni noticing.
I down some more of the mini shots and sigh
I should've told her I loved her when I had the chance.
I sit against the wall and shake my head
"Cher?" Someone asks
I look up and Toni is there
"Toni what are you doing here?" I sigh "it's your wedding,"
"And my best friend is upset,"
"Who cares toni? This is your day,"
"I can't do this without knowing something Cher,"
"What Toni? What could you possibly need to know?"
"Do you love me?"
"Of course I love you Toni- you're my best friend,"
"Not just as a friend Cher. Do you LOVE me?"
I glance at her lips and back at her eyes
"I don't know what answer you want from me,"
"I think you do,"
"I do Toni, but I'll get over it. Go marry your dream guy," I sigh
She starts giggling and Reggie comes from around the corner.
"What's going on,"
"Reggie and I never even dated C. I just did this so you would stop being shy around me,"
"So I didn't ruin your wedding?"
"Oh C.. I don't want you sitting in the back row of my wedding. I want you holding my hands at the front,"
