Y/N POV
I've been having as little interaction with Eret as possible these last few days. And today I haven't even seen him at all... he's probably avoiding me too... what if he heard my conversation with Astrid? Maybe Astrid let it slip?
.... What should I do...?

-You said you needed me, chief, I say as me and d/n get to the town center.
-Yes, Y/N! I need you and Eret to lift those 36 logs, up, he says and point upwards to one of many triple houses.
-There, he finishes and looks back to me.
-Wait... me and.. Eret? I ask. Hiccup nods.
-Eret is just now securing the logs. You just need to fasten it to your saddle and you'll be off! It will go in a jiffy when you two work together! Hiccup says enthusiastically. I only gulp and nod nervously, looking towards Eret and Skullcrusher that stands only a couple of meters to my left.
-Absolutely chief, will do, I say and walk towards them.
-Hey Eret! Is everything secured? I ask. Eret looks up at me and smiles.
-Everything secured, my lady, Eret says and bows in a childish manner. I giggle and Eret helps me to fasten the ropes to my saddle. I jump onto d/n's back and watch Eret as he fastens the other rope to Skullcrusher.
-I didn't think you'd talk to me, Eret says and pulls on the rope to make sure it's secure.
-What do you mean? I ask. His statement had made my heart thump an extra beat... he knew...
-Well, Ever since the flying lesson, you've been avoiding me... Eret says and jumps onto Skullcrusher. He sends me a sad glance.
-And I understand if you're still embarrassed, but you're 100% forgiven, Eret says and leans over towards me, grabbing my hand and giving it a small squeeze before letting go again. I let out the breath I held. I felt my cheeks heat up again... he didn't know... but he held my hand!
-Yeah, I.... That was pretty embarrassing of me, I say and I feel my cheeks grow warmer by the second.
-Yeah... but it's in the past now. We're best friends, remember? So you don't have to avoid me because of it, Eret smiles warmly at me.
I smile back. That's not why I'm avoiding you, you gorgeous idiot....

We both lift from the ground, pepping our dragons to lift the logs. When we are high enough, we fly towards the houses that were being built.
-I heard you had ordered some logs!? I shout playfully at the men below. They look up and smile at us and mentions for us to place the logs onto the ground. We carefully make sure that the logs are firmly planted on the ground before landing our own dragons beside them. A dragon from behind us are pushing the logs vertically off of the net they were lifted in. Once the logs were off, we lifted once again and flew back down to where the rest of the logs were, and started the process all over again.

When the day was over, we took a walk without our dragons. We're talking like we've known each other far longer than we actually have.
-Ans then, he said; I didn't taste a difference! Eret completes his joke, before I burst out in laughter.
-Oh my god, are you serious!? I ask, doubling over in laughter.
-Yes! Eret laughs next to me.
We laugh a bit more before calming down.
-That joke makes me cry, Eret says and chuckles before wiping away some tears he gathered while laughing. I shake my head, giggling, and I find a random fallen tree, sitting down at it. I pat the spot next to me and Eret smiles as he happily takes me up on the offer.
-You're my first real friend, you know that? He asks. I look at him as the sun shows off all his features and flaws in his strongly structured face. Eret looks back at me, but I don't turn away. I stay put.
-Mhmm... I can only say, reading his eyes. He looks like as if he's reading my face.
-You... I want you to know that you're really pretty... He says before his face turns red and he breaks our stare. Only then it hits me.
-You-you do? I ask surprised.
-Yeah... I mean, I haven't met many women my age during my life, but you are for sure the prettiest, Eret says and rubs his neck, awkwardly looking around him before meeting my gaze again. I feel the butterflies fill my stomach and my smile take up my whole face.
-Stop... I jokingly say and nudge his shoulder.
-No, I'm serious, Eret says and puts a hand on my shoulder.
-You are amazingly beautiful, he says and I feel warmth and comforted.
-Thank you, it means a lot... I say and nod gratefully. If he only knew...

Eret's POV:

In that moment, I couldn't feel anything, except for my thumping heart.
Her eyes lit up and her smile... I have never seen her smile this brightly...
I couldn't help but to smile back.
Then she looks up when the sun sets.
-We should probably go... Y/N says as she quickly stand up. I clear my throat.
-Yeah, uh, definitely... I say and stand up a bit slower than her. I can see her glancing at me from the corner of my eye.
-Care to... walk me home? She asks. I grin and nod at her. We begin making our way back to the village.

-I hate the dark, she explains as we begins spotting houses between the trees. I only glance at her.
-It's always... because I have it still burned into the back of my head that... When night falls, danger comes out, she says and looks up to the sky as it gets darker. I could see her shoulders tense up and her lips becomes a thin line. I look around awkwardly, not really sure what to do..... unless....
I put my hand around her shoulders, bringing her in for a... side hug as we walked. I feel the butterflies return and my ears grow warm. How can she make me feel like... this?
I immediately felt her relax. Then I hear her sigh.

We walk in comfortable silence the rest of the way into the village. When we finally spot her house, the night sky has arrived, stars burning bright on the dark blue background.
-Thank you, for understanding... she says as I let her go. I couldn't help but smile a little bit.
-No problem... I say. She smiles back at me. We stand awkwardly outside her house before she brings me in for a hug.
-Thank you.... she says. Then she lets go.
-Again, she says and giggles a bit. I love her laugh... Is that strange?
-Would do it again... I say.
-Really? She asks. I can't help but grin at her.
-Anytime, I say. She smiles before opening the door.
-Goodnight, she says before closing the door behind her.
-Goodnight... I whisper back.

I begin walking back to Astrids house, thinking about how she makes me feel... Happy... sad... emotional and cheesy... what are these strange feelings..? I'll have to ask Hiccup tomorrow, he's smart enough to know...

Y/N POV
I've just said Goodnight to Eret and closed the door. I turn so I can see inside the house. And there stands Snotlout, crossed arms and eyebrows furrowed.
-What were you two doing? He asks.
-We were just out on a walk, I explain, walking to the food standing in the table.
-No you weren't... you hate being out in the dark, Snotlout says and sits in front of me.
-It got late ok? And I didn't realize it until it was too late, I say and try to shrug him off. But at the same time, I was proud over that I had managed to walk in the dark without freaking out. Snotlout sighs.
-Alright, I trust you, Snotlout says and unravel his arms and puts them on the table.
-Where's mom and dad? I ask.
-They're helping someone build something. I didn't really listen, but they'll be late, he explains. I nod.
-..... Did you do your dishes...? I ask carefully. Snotlout groans loudly.
-Yes MOM... He says. I smirk.
I love being the older sibling....
