London? Not Quite

"London's not as big as you think it is," the Doctor rolled his eyes. "Anyway, if these Cov Neen ARE here, they'd be in a place with lot's of power, that doesn't attract a lot of attention. It'd have to be big, too."

The Doctor looked over at his two newfound 'partners'. "Do you two know about a place like that?"

Sherlock frowned, thinking. He closed his eyes, and started suddenly walking around the room randomly. The Doctor gave him a bewildered look, and just barely got out of the way and Sherlock walked toward him.

Sherlock opened his eyes to give the Doctor an irritated look. "Get out."

The Doctor raised an eyebrow. "Excuse me?"

John groaned, burying his face in his palm. "It's... mind palace. I don't really get it..."

"A mind palace?" The Doctor repeated, in a somewhat disbelieving tone.

"You know about it?" John asked.

"Course, I'm not stupid," the Doctor huffed. He turned to Sherlock. "You think you've got one."

"No, Doctor, I know I do," Sherlock told him in annoyance. "So-" he waved a hand towards the door. "-Get out."

The Doctor rolled his eyes, but started to the door. "Alright, alright. You go to your 'reliable' mind palace, and I'll go to my 'unreliable' time travelling technology." With a sarcastic grin, the Doctor left, and Sherlock closed his eyes and started wandering around again.

John watched him for a minute, trying to process the exchange that just happened before turning away.

"I'll just go look on my computer," he called back to Sherlock. "If you need me."

He was ignored, and, knowing Sherlock, started leaving.

"John."

John paused, looking back. Sherlock was studying him.

"We'll get Rosamund back, John," Sherlock told him. John blinked, confused. "Everyone else might miss it, but whenever we're in peril, you're calm. Especially when someones life is on the line. But you're panicking inside, I know it."

John stayed quiet.

"I know it, John, and I'm going to say, is that we'll get your daughter back," Sherlock told him. "I guarantee it."

John wasn't absolutely sure how Sherlock's mind palace works. Watching Sherlock work, he figured it was kind of like a computer, with files and stuff. Right now, it looks like Sherlock is looking through Google Maps.

John, for his part, was looking through 'abandoned power plants in london'. So far, he hasn't found anything, and soon he won't get the chance.

Because, soon (two minutes) after the two left, they came back. The Doctor slammed open the door, and Sherlock looked up, his eyes opening suddenly.

"YORKSHIRE!!" they both yelled suddenly, making John jump.

"W-What?!" he asked.

"The Cov Neen's base," Sherlock explained hastily. "It's in the

"You said it was in London," John said, looking to the Doctor. The Doctor shrugged.

"I was only a little bit off," he countered.

"No," John said.

"It takes 3 hours to get there by car, 7 by bus, 55 by walking, 17 by biking and an hour by plane," Sherlock listed, shrugging on his signature coat. "You weren't close at all."

"Well, you know what?" the Doctor argued. "It takes 10 seconds by TARDIS. Now, let's go."

"Right," John nodded. "Come on, Sherlock."

"I'm coming, I'm coming," Sherlock snarled. They followed the Doctor into the TARDIS.

"Where exactly are we going?" John asked Sherlock and the Doctor.

"Thorpe Marsh Power Station," they answered at the same time. "South Yorkshire."

"Oh," John said, surprised. "How specific."

The Doctor walked over to the familiar blue box, and threw the doors open, walking in and waving Sherlock and John in as well.

But when Sherlock and John came in, they froze in shock. The Doctor looked annoyed.

"Yes, yes, it's bigger on the in-."

"It's changed," John spoke. The Doctor looked surprised.

"Well, haven't heard that before..." he mumbled. Louder, he said "No spoilers, either of you."

"Uh, right," John nodded. "But, uh, how does it change?"

The Doctor, who was preoccupied at the moment, sighed. "Short answer, science, physics, all that. You lot wouldn't understand."

"What?"

"Oh, no need to get down on yourselves like that," the Doctor spoke absentmindedly. He grinned at John and pulled a lever. "Species differences."

John raised an eyebrow. "Until a couple minutes ago you thought the Co-Cov- you thought the aliens were hiding in London."

"Until a couple minutes ago you weren't even aware the Cov Neen existed," the Doctor shot back. John sighed, defeated, and the Doctor grinned. "I win."

"Are we there yet, Doctor?" Sherlock called out in irritation. The Doctor rolled his eyes.

"As a matter of fact, we are," he announced, walking toward the doors. John frowned.

"We're just going to walk out?" he asked.

"Yes," the Doctor replied. "Why not?"

"Couldn't they be waiting outside for us?"

The Doctor scoffed. "Please, John, I've been piloting the TARDIS for hundreds of years, I wouldn't make a mistake like that."

John frowned, but didn't comment on it. They stepped out of the TARDIS and looked around.

"STOP!" somebody shouted. The Doctor and John froze. They looked in front of them and saw what looked like a middle age woman pointing a futurist-looking gun at them.

The Doctor sighed.

"Is this an alien?" John whispered to the Doctor. The Doctor nodded. Together, John and the Doctor raised their hands in the air. The alien gave them an odd look.

"What are you doing?" they demanded. "Put your hands down!"

Awkwardly, John and the Doctor lowered their hands.

Plink!

The alien started, and looked suspiciously at them. "What was that?"

The Doctor rolled his eyes, and pointed to the side. "That."

John and the alien looked to the left, and saw a loose screw lying on the floor. It must have fell down.

The alien, embarrassed, waved their gun. "Uh, whatever! Come with me! And no tricks!"

"Wouldn't dream of it," the Doctor assured them, and stepped forward. John followed him.

The alien, keeping their gun trained on John and the Doctor, forced them ahead. Suddenly, John realized Sherlock wasn't with them. He looked back at the TARDIS, but still didn't see Sherlock.

'Oh, good,' John thought. 'Sherlock can get us out of here.'

"Keep your eyes forward!" the alien ordered angrily. John, scowling turned away from the TARDIS, but not before he saw a glint of silver. He didn't want to risk turning back to find out.

'What was that?' he wondered.
