The Alpha's Sister

Chapter 2

I run home. I don't care if school isn't finished, I need to be in safe place. I quickly unlocked the door and rushed to the kitchen cabinets to get some anxiety medicine. After I calmed down a little walk to my room and flop on my bed. 

After mom was killed my dad was devastated but we got through it together. I must of fell asleep because I jolted awake when I heard the front door shut. I got up and went downstairs. 

"Rose what are you doing home already?" My dad asks looking worried. 

I guess he didn't hear about the attack at school.

 "School was attacked by an enemy pack." I say and my eyes start to water. 

"Oh honey it's ok." he says as he hugs me.

 We hug for a while until dad pulled away instead and said "Well to cheer you up I'm going to make you favorite dinner."  

"Thank you dad." I say quietly "I'll be in my room." 

My father nods and I head upstairs.

I flop down on my bed and my mind immediately goes to Claudia.   Her short boyish purple hair, and her beautiful indigo eyes. Mate. My wolf whispers. No that can't be right. I can't be mates with the alpha's sister. I'll get rejected. But if I do then I can finally go in peace. The pack will take care of my dad and he will find someone that will take care of him. She would never love a mute like me. I turn my head and I see my pencil sharpener on my dresser. 

"Rose dinner's ready." my dad called.

"Coming." I walk downstairs and try and put my thoughts out of my head.

As we were eating dinner dad said "There's going to be an announcement tonight regarding this afternoon's attack, it's mandatory." I nod. 

"Also a party is being held tomorrow night and I think you should go." 

I stare at him shocked. 

"Dad. Why? And how to you even know this." I sign. 

"I have my ways." He says with a grin. 

"I want you to get out more. Make friends. Find your mate." Dad says raising an eyebrow. "Dad!" "But I won't push you to do anything you don't want to. I just want what's best for you." 

"Ok Dad I'll go. Just for you though."  He beamed. 

After dinner we headed over the pack house where everyone was gathering. Jake and his beta Cole, came out of the house first followed by his parents and then Claudia. Oh God she was looking stunning. Mate. My growls. It takes all I have not to run to her. 

"Ok everyone listen up." Jake said and immediately everyone  was quiet. 

"I have been able to confirm that the attack at the high school was from a rival pack. Me and Cole are working on negotiating with their alpha. I am truly sorry about what happened and I am happy to report no one was hurt. Everyone just be on you guard and if you see anything report to me or Cole. Everyone is dismissed."  

After a few beats everyone started talking at once, about the attack and what might happen. 

My dad gently tugged on my sweater sleeve and we started inching our way out of the crowd. But before we could leave the meeting place, Ann and Brian, Jake and Claudia's parents, appeared in from of us. 

"Michael, I heard Rose almost got hurt today I am so sorry." Ann says. 

I look down at my feet while dad replies "Yes I am very lucky that she's ok." 

"Well if you need anything just let us know ok?" Dad nodded. 

Just as we were about to leave someone called out "Ma, dad, wait." 

And before I know it Claudia is standing right next to her parents. 

"This was the girl I saved from that wolf. Rose right?" 

I could feel my heart start to beat quicker and it took all I had not to run and kiss her. I nod 

"Thank you so much for saving me." I sign. 

"No problem." 

Dad glances at me from the corner of his eye. He still is holding on to my sleeve to I nudge him slightly to let him know I want to leave. 

"Well we have to go. Thank you Claudia for helping my daughter. Ann, Brian I'll talk to you later." 

They nodded and we hurried back home. And as we walked away I could feel Claudia's gaze on my back and my heart sank.
