Chapter 27

C H A E Y O U N G

I was shocked when Mother was here in Norway. I hadn't seen her since my visit, and I was worried about what happened after Father beat the shit out of me. I'm relieved that she doesn't seem to have any injuries knowing how that man is towards people who don't follow him. 

My mom smiles as she opens her arms. I walk towards her for a hug. I miss her so much. We haven't felt so free in a long time. I'm glad everyone was here, but that doesn't mean they don't have any news. 

"Lali, congratulations." Mom smiles as she hugs Lisa together with Jisoo. 

"Thank you, mom," Lisa smiled back, and I couldn't help but be happy at the thought that we were complete. Mother, Lisa, BamBam, and I were all in one place, and I couldn't help but want this to last. A complete family. We celebrated and ate dinner together happily with everyone else.

During dinner, I could feel that Jennie was nervous. Not only was my mother sitting on the other side of the table facing her, but it was also because of what happened between Jennie and me three years ago. So I slowly snaked my hand to hers and held on to it for comfort, which she did a few seconds later. But knowing my mother, she understands the situation, and I loved that about her. I was lucky to have her.  My mother's eyes are filled with love, and her hand is filled with magic. She knows everything and would do anything for us.

A few moments later, BamBam played some music. Lisa and Jisoo got up from their seats and slowly danced at the center. Soon after, Chanyeol invited Sooyoung for a dance while BamBam with mom. 

I swallowed the lump forming in my throat, slowly turned to Jennie, and flinched a little when she was already looking at me. "W-Would you like to dance?" I mentally slapped myself for stuttering because she was staring at me as if she wanted me. "I was waiting, and I'd love to," She replies, making me shiver because she was waiting for my shy ass. 

We danced for a while and got lost in each other's eyes. We hadn't said a word to each other and just danced slowly. The feeling of her near me, holding me, will always get to me, and I couldn't help but smile when we found ourselves back in each other's arms again. 

My lungs are black. My heart is pure

It all started in high school when we first met and got closer to each other. Who would have thought we'd make it this far?

So much has changed since she came into my life. I even wondered why she'd fall for someone like me. May I say that it feels pretty peaceful to be this delighted? The way she makes me feel. I feel more accepted for who I am, for what has happened in my life, the good and bad. I had never felt this satisfied before. I'm pretty thrilled to call you mine.

There will never be enough words for her. Probably that's why I keep trying. But what you mean to me is a swell of something I don't know how to find the voice for. 

"In your eyes," I started, and she looked confused. "I wanna drown," I added, and she rolled her eyes at me, making me chuckle. 

"In your lips," I trailed one hand to touch her soft lips. "I wanna melt," 

"In your warmth," I pulled her closer to me. "I wanna die,"

"And in your arms," I trapped her in my embrace. "I wanna be buried," 

I chuckled when she groaned and slowly punched my chest. "Stop being like this," I could see that she was blushing and buried her head in my chest. 

"But you love it," I smirked, and all she could do was pout.

Right after dinner, we were all gathered in the living room since BamBam, and the others were not only there because of Lisa's proposal. I'm pretty sure they have some news for us that seems to be vital since they could have just sent it through text. But no, they had to fly here, and I hope this was good news. I was sitting beside Jennie with her hand clasped on mine. 

"This better be good news, Bam, or I'm kicking you out," Lisa threatened since she had just proposed and didn't want to ruin the mo, especially since everything was slowly coming to get better. 

"Dad has been arrested." BamBam directly says, making me and Lisa widen our eyes. We both stared at each other and then turned our gaze to Mom, who seemed to nod and smile. "No way," I say, still completely surprised that a powerful man like Dad is finally receiving his consequences. 

"There were past accusations from different companies to him for bribery which the police had to investigate before you took over the company. Although there wasn't enough evidence to support their claim, he was immediately arrested for child abuse. The CCTV footage captured him beating you up that night, Chaeyoung-ah," Mom explained, and I couldn't contain my happiness. We were finally out of my Father's clutches and will live freely and happily. I walked towards my Mom and hugged her. 

"Group hug!" BamBam yells excitingly, and both he and Lisa squish me, Mom, with their hug. 

"That's not the only news we have for you," Seokjin speaks. I see him looking at Jennie for a while. He seemed to be nervous since it had to do something with her. 

"Mr. and Mrs. Kim has been arrested as well for bribery. Unlike Chaeyoung's dad, there were multiple pieces of evidence found along with information from the people involved with whom they have worked in the past. With Jennie's help, we even discovered that they had been stealing money from their companions. Through that, they were heavily accused and soon after arrested." Seokjin smiles, and I can see that Jennie is crying. I left my mom's side, went to hers, and hugged her.

"Y-You were helping them?" I ask as I cup her face and wipe away the tears with my thumb.

"When Sooyoung told me everything. I thought that maybe it was for the best. They did horrible things, and letting them separate me from you was the last straw." She says, and I wrap her around my arms. 

"What you did was very brave," I whispered in her ear as I calmed her down. Jennie loved her parents dearly, and there was even a time when she hesitated to choose me when her parents didn't accept our relationship.
