You and Mikey ventured out into the woods, playing jokes and trying to scare each other whenever the wind blew hard through the leaves. You were laughing back and forth, but you knew something was wrong with Mikey.
"Hey, how about we stop for a snack break?" you suggested, hoisting your backpack off of your back.
"Yeah, I'm starving!" Mikey shouted, taking a seat on a nearby fallen log.
You pulled out some leftover pizza and handed it to Mikey, who scarfed it down contently.
"Mikey, what's wrong?"
'I shouldn't have asked that' you thought.
Mikey looked up at you in confusion, "nothings wrong, why do you think somethings wrong?"
You took a deep breath, "Mikey, you're my best friend, and now we're... more than just that, and I can tell when somethings bugging you so please, just tell me"
Mikey looked at you with concern but told you the truth. He was scared. He and his brothers had put you in danger and he felt responsible for your safety. When the Kraang had attacked his first thought had been to rescue and warn you but his brothers had stopped him at first, and he felt horrible about it.
"Mikey," you started, "I don't care if I was an afterthought to your brothers, what I care about is that you took the time to save my life during a flippin' alien invasion! Mikey, you saved my life, at this point more than once,"
You wrapped your arms around his neck, hiding your face, not wanting him to see you cry.
"More than once?"
You froze.
'Shit'
"Well, yeah," you parted from the hug, discreetly wiping a tear that was rolling down your cheek.
"You may not know it but you just being my friend has saved my life on a few occasions. There have been times when I was ready to harm or even kill myself, but then you would text me or send me a picture of you or your brothers or ice cream kitty doing something dumb and I would stop"
Mikey looked terrified and pulled you into a tight embrace.
"Dude!" he yelled, making you jump, "please, please don't ever ever think about killing yourself,"
You once again felt tears roll down your face.
"We would miss you so much, I would miss you so much! I love you, dude"
"I love you too Mikey, thank you"
As the sun set across the horizon and the stars came out, Mikey pulled you close, cupping your face and kissing you sweetly beneath the twinkling blanket of the night.
