Part 11

Anne woke up at the same time as Matt at four in the afternoon. Immediately he asked if his father is there already. When she told him, not yet, he quickly runs outside of the room, leaving her shaking her head at his behavior.

When She prepare Matt for his afternoon nap, she left her Granny, Drew, and Jasmine still talking outside. She was supposed to go back and chat with them once Matt had slept, but it seemed she too had succumbed to her tiredness.

Slowly she got up from her bed and then walked to the door to make sure someone was outside with Matt. In case, Drew and her Granny also took a nap.

Once she goes out of the room, Adam and Matt were the occupants of the living room. She can hear the excitement in her son's voice as he again repeated his father's coming to his uncle Adam, who nods while the attention is still on his phone.

"Marie," Matt called her as soon as he saw her and then walked towards her direction. Once, near her, he hugged her on her waist, stopping her stride.

"yes, my baby," she asked while touching his hair.

"Why, is daddy not yet here?"

"Be patient. Daddy will come. Maybe he is still in the traffic. So for now, let us go to the kitchen to prepare something to eat. Aren't you hungry?"

Matt nods while removing his hands on her waist, and so they both went to the kitchen.

Matt is eating a sandwich when their doorbell rings. He immediately left his food and scrambled down from his chair. Runs outside of the kitchen while shouting, "Daddy."

She was going to run after him if she didn't hear Brent's and Adam's voice, with the excited sound of her son in the background.

"Marie, daddy is here already. " She heard Matt called her and then she turned her head and saw Brent, standing in the doorway with Matt clasping on his hands.

Looking at Brent, so handsome on casual attire, made her conscious of her newly awakened state. "Is her hair in disarray, or maybe she still has some boogers?" she asked herself and turned her back on him. As there are no mirrors or any glass that can give a reflection of her face, she wipes it with her hands. It was then she realized, "why does she have to care about his opinion on how she looks? Stupid of her to feel like a young and naive girl trying to catch the attention of her crush. He had seen her in her worst."

She turned around again and looked at Brent, who still stands where he is, with Matt pulling his hand to come in her direction.

"You are early. " Anne said casually, and this time she stands up and then told her son, "Matt, let daddy sits down here," only then Brent leave his position to follow his son's leading him to a chair beside her.

Anne then gets up to get some snacks for Brent, but he only told her to give him some tea.

"Oh, what is this commotion? I can hear our little boy's voice in my room" Anne heard her Granny's voice while she is waiting for the water to boil.

"Look, Granny, my daddy, is here," Matt answered while running to his father, who stands up from his chair. Brent walked to where her Granny is and shakes her hands.

It was then she heard her Granny invited Brent to follow her in the living while telling her to prepare snacks. So she did as told.

When she carried the snacks in the living room, everyone was in there already. Drew and Jasmine looked at Brent as if in awe. Their faces have this incredulous aura. As if they cannot believe a man, so above the hierarchy of wealth, sats in front of them looking agitated.

It was then she remembered. Brent is not such a fan of meeting new people. Her family is welcoming people, but the circumstances they are in is different.
