Part 14

Anne is applying lipstick on her lips inside the bathroom when the door opens, and Matt came inside. He immediately hugged on her legs.

"Yes, baby?" she asked after she returned the lipstick on her pouch.

"Mommy, I want to go with daddy today." Upon hearing Matt's request, she turned her attention to him.

"Didn't you agreed with Daddy this morning that you will go with me to Granny's laundry because he will go to work today?

Matt nods on her, but then she sees the sadness on her son's face, so she bends down on her knees.

"Don't you like to go to granny's laundry anymore?"

"No, Mommy, but I want to play with daddy today."

"As daddy said, he has to go to work today beside in the afternoon; he will come and pick you."

Matt pouted his mouth, but then he also nods his head and then runs out of the bathroom, leaving her sighing.

When they were eating their breakfast earlier, Brent received a call and all she heard him mention the name of his PA as he walked away from their hearing. When he comes back, he talk to Matt and told him," he has an urgent meeting to attend, and so he should go with her."

In front of Brent, Matt nods without any question, but now with her, he whines.

Anne then straightened up, picked her pouch, and leave the bathroom.

Brent was still in the living area when they went down. Immediately, Matt runs to him, and he bends down to pick him up on his arm.

"Be a good boy with Mommy, okay?" Then she saw Brent whisper something to Matt as she walked past them to go to the kitchen to take the bag of snacks for Matt.

When she returned to the living room, Matt is still in Brent's arms, playing on his buttons, and she heard him said, "Daddy, you will not forget to pick me up in the afternoon."

"Of course, Daddy will not forget it."

"I love you, Daddy."

"I love you too, son. " She heard Brent said while she walked past them to go to the front door.

"Matt, go down now, we have to leave already." She said once she is in front of the door. It was then she heard Matt asked," Daddy, why can't I go with you? Is it only big people who are allowed there?"

Before Brent can answer, she turned and looked at Matt and said, "Matt, Daddy has to work, and we need to go now to open Granny's shop. Come down now." She said the last sentence in an authoritative voice. Matt immediately wriggles on Brent's arms to go down. He then runs to her side and holds her hands once his father let him down.

They left the apartment with Brent still inside. Brent's office is only two floors down, and he has a separate elevator going down to it. He can go down at his convenience.

As far as she knows, there are only two apartments on their floor and another four below it, all occupied by those in higher management. She had not met any occupants, but all the information she knew from the guard on the second day that they had lived here.

They were walking in the basement area to her car when a blue convertible Porsche past them.

"Wow! what a fantastic car, Mommy."

"Yeah, but we must hurry as we are going to be late," she told Matt, who stopped walking while looking at the car. The ringing of her phone, temporarily distracted her, still holding Matt's hands, she fished out her phone from her shoulder bag with her other hand. Upon seeing Susan's name as her caller, she immediately told Matt no to talk while she answered her phone.
