Trimester 2
Month 5, Week 1
Aya Weathers

"Karilyn, all I said was that I don't know how this white man is gonna help me get over Chris. He's probably gonna pull the abuse card on me and I'll have to ask for a damn refund." I kept my eyes on the road as I pulled up to a one story building that was seemingly an office building.

"Give it a chance, Aya. I would help you, but I'm just a marriage counselor, I don't know shit about stress and pregnancies and shit. I'm a rookie, not a miracle worker." She scoffed.

I shook my head as if she could see me and parked in the parking lot of the building, examining the neighborhood around me. It was quiet, but seemingly lively. The houses weren't as big as the ones in my part of town, but they had a nice look to them. Most of them were painted white with well kept grass and auburn roofs, and no house had over one story.

"It's all good, I'm finna go up in this place and see what the hype is all about. I'm not expecting too much." I watched a woman walk out of the building with a smile on her face.

"Alright, call me when you get out." She said.

"I will. Bye." I unbuckled my seatbelt and hung up the phone, stepping out of the car. I stared down at my five month belly, which was getting bigger and bigger by the second. Soon, I'll be ready to pop. Gladly.

I swung open the door to the building, instantly greeted by the contrast of the cool air conditioning from the warm 79 degree weather outside. I took my shades off of my face and placed them in my purse, approaching the counter where a dark skinned woman sat, writing something on a sheet of paper. I caught her attention and she smiled, putting her pen down.

"Hi, how can I help you today?" She chirped, putting me in a good mood. Don't you just love nice people?

"Yes, I'm here for a 12:00 appointment with Dr. Parker." I informed her, placing my hands on the counter.

"Alright, can I get a name?" She turned to her keyboard.

"Aya Weathers." I told her as she began typing away. I scanned the room around me, since it was awfully quiet. I could hear the ticking of the wall clock, which I always find to be relaxing.

"Found you. You can head down that hallway and the second room to the right is where you'll find him." She pointed while giving me directions.

"Alright, thank you." I smiled at her and headed in the direction she told me. I saw that the door was closed and became hesitant. I knocked lightly and stepped back, hoping I wasn't interrupting anything.

The door opened, and the first thing I laid my eyes on was the man who stood in front of me. His skin was a rich milk chocolate, and he had dark eyes that still managed to twinkle with the simplest look. His facial hair was thin, but well kept, a mustache and slight chin hair. His lips— man, I won't even go into detail because if I did I'd be saying too much.
