^ Hey, guys, author here!

To all my beautiful colored readers, and all my non-POC, but pro-black people. I just wanted to say a few quick things before I started the chapter if y'all don't mind? If it's triggering for you to think about right now, which I understand, you can go ahead and skip over this message.

First and foremost, I just want to say that all my colored girls and boys, your melanin is beautiful and is not a weapon or anything to fear. My black brothers and sisters, I understand that this may be a tough time right now. Seeing all of this happen to our beautiful people, seeing the world go crazy, seeing this year turn to shit. I get it, I do.

But what I want you to understand is, this should not be an injury to you or your self esteem. You are not something to be feared. You are your mother's child, and they are their mother's child, and so on and so forth. A long line of strong people with the skin like copper and teeth like pearls. You, WE deserve to be praised.

Our hearts are rightfully hurting. We are angry. We are fed up. But I need you all to do all you can to speak out on this, okay? Support one another, lift each other up, spread the word. They cannot silence all of us at once, they cannot and will not overpower us.

If you are protesting, please, PLEASE be safe out there. The racist white supremacists are about as angry as we are over their pReCiOuS tArGeT. They will not stop until their twisted idea of justice is served. But neither will we. United we stand, divided we fall.

Imma go ahead and start the chapter before I fuck around and whip out the negro spirituals on y'all 😭 I love you all, stay safe ❤️

Btw this is the finale and it's a really long chapter, teehee.

I never got the chance to tell Chris that I would be okay with moving in with him? Why? Because now I really have no choice.

Christopher does not want me, Kenya, and Ayden back in that house again. When he came to pick the two of us up, he was more shaken up than the both of us combined. He kept checking me for some type of scar, bruise, scratch, injury. He hugged Kenya too tight and almost cut off the poor girl's blood circulation.

We've been here for a month now. All of our things are already here, my house is empty. He rarely will let me out of the house without him as it is, although I've made it clear that I can defend myself. He had me put him as an emergency contact for Kenya at school, he picks her up and drops her off everyday. I understand his concern, but jeez.

I lied in bed with Ayden in my arms, allowing the slow pattern of my breathing to calm me. The TV wasn't on, Chris wasn't in the house, it was just us two. He latched onto me, his pacifier lazily sitting in his mouth. I'm so glad I could get him on the bottle.

The sound of the front door opening below caused me to open an eye. I waited to hear Chris's voice.

"Mamas?!" He called after me. Gosh, he's loud. I didn't want to yell because my son was sleeping my my arms.

"In here." I just barely yelled, positioning my head away from Ayden so it would be as quiet to him as possible. One thing he definitely got from me was the grumpiness of being waken up.

"Baby?!" He called again. I guess he didn't hear me with his deaf ass. I heard his footsteps coming up the stairs. He entered the room, relief painting over his yellow face. He just always looks so good man...

"Why didn't you—"

"Shh." I shushed him because he was talking too loud. I pointed to Ayden, who was still attached to me. Chris mouthed 'oh' and came over by the two of us, peeling his shirt off of his body. He climbed into bed and lied next to me, nuzzling his head into my neck.
