THE HOT WATER ran down over her head, soaking her hair and skin and relaxing her muscles, relieving all the tension buildup in her small frame. The sound of the water hitting the shower floor soothed her and she closed her eyes, letting the water run down over her face to wash away all the stress that had overtaken her body.

Anna ran her fingers through her hair, washing out the rest of the shampoo that remained. She watched the shampoo run down her shoulders and chest, taking her worries with it as the hot water continues to soothe her muscles. She opened her eyes, blinking away the water that blurred her vision.

The sound of lightning crackling filled her ears and she froze in the shower, her body running cold even with the boiling water hitting her skin. Anna reached forward, shutting off the stream of water so that her bathroom fell silent. Slowly, she stepped out of the shower and wrapped a towel around herself securely.

Anna walked toward the bathroom door, furrowing her brows as lightning crackled once again. She jumped away from the door once it got closer and quickly changed into her clothes, leaving her wet towel on the floor. "Please be Barry," she whispered and wrapped her hand around the doorknob, slowly opening the door. She stepped out of her bathroom, the cool air in the rest of her apartment sending chills up her spine. Her toes curled slightly against the cold hardwood floor as she walked down the hall and the water from her hair was already soaking through her shirt. "Hello?" She called out and looked over her shoulder briefly as she continued down the hall.

Two hands grabbed her shoulders, running her backwards until she hit the wall. Zoom's masked face appeared in front of her, his void-like eyes staring into hers. "Good to see you again, Swift," he growled and raised a hand, vibrating it as his fingers hovered in front of her chest. "It's been a while."

Without sparing a moment to process what was happening, Anna swallowed her fear and shot her fist forward, her knuckles colliding with the man's throat. She slipped away from him, bolting just a few feet away. "Get the hell away from me," she snapped, lightning curling around her fingertips and feet. "I'm not afraid of you, Zoom. Not anymore!"

What a pathetic lie, she told herself.

Zoom turned toward her, running at her. He grabbed her by the throat, slamming her back up against the wall once again as his claws stuck into her skin. "I've been watching you, and I'm closer than you think," he said, tilting his head at the blue speedster as she choked and struggled against his tight grip. "You're afraid of me, Anna. You're more afraid of me than you'd like to admit. I am what ends you, I control you, and I will win. You are nothing. You're holding onto a rope that is slowly being worn down, and now it's barely hanging on, now," he said and took a step closer, his eyes somehow growing angrier than before. "And guess who holds the knife that slices through that rope?"
