Chapter twenty nine: fake girlfriend.

***

It was the next morning, and I was in school of course. I closed my new locker and made my way to my third class, I walked alone through the crowded hallway.

I entered the class, I looked around the class and everyone was staring at me, I bit my lip as I sat on my usual seat, and the seat next to me was empty.

After a couple of minutes, a tall boy walked into the class, carrying a book. He looked at empty seat next to me, and walked to it. He had light brown hair that reached above his eyes, dark brown eyes, and he was wearing a gray hoodie and black pants.

"Hello, can I sit here?" He asked.

I nodded, "sure."

"I'm Jared," he introduced himself.

"I'm Scarlett," I smiled. Why are people suddenly talking to me?

"You're the new girl, aren't you?" He smirked.

"Are all the new students special?" I raised an eyebrow.

"Only the beautiful ones," he winked at me, and I could feel my cheeks redden. "And you count as a very special one."

"I see," I nodded. "And you count as?"

"As the popular guy," he smirked.

"Cliche," I laughed.

I made my way to the table I usually sit at alone, I bought my lunch and almost shoved a piece of fry in my mouth when Jared placed his tray on the table, the weird thing was, everyone was watching.

"Let's make a deal," he spoke.

"We just met, what kind of deal do you want?" I asked.

"I want you to be my fake girlfriend," he said.

I gasped, almost choked on the fry. "W-What?"

"Look, you're an innocent girl, and I don't want to hurt you, but my friends bet me 200 dollars to get with you, stay with you for a couple of weeks, and break up with you," he confessed. "When I talked to you earlier, you seemed... I don't know, uhh lonely?"

"But if I agreed to it, you have to share the money with me," I smirked.

"10?"

"120?"

"That's not fair!"

"I play a bigger part here," I scoffed.

"Fine, 50?"

"110?"

"70?"

"100?"

"Okay, fine, 100," he grumbled. "So, you're in?"

"Of course," I smiled.

I know we just met, but he seemed like a good person, especially that he admitted that he had a bet with his friends.

I was at home at the moment, and I was texting Jared.

We'll wait for two weeks, then we'll start holding hands at school, okay?

Can't we just tell them that we are together?

Are you stupid? They'd catch our lie.

Ahh, fine then! :(

Hey, my hands are soft and nice.

God only knows where they've been 😒

You know you don't have to be rude :(

You just called me stupid :/

Because you're stupid

:p

"Who are you texting?" Noah asked.

"My friend," I replied.

"You finally made a friend?" He grinned.

"I made two," I smirked.

"What are their names?" He asked as he sat next to me on the couch.

"Annabelle and Jared," I answered.

"Is Jared a boy?"

"Duh."

"Why can't it be a girl? Is Annabelle a boy too?"

"I'm going to sleep," I excused myself from his stupidness.

"Hey, answer me!" He yelled.

"Think," I ran up the stairs, and locked myself in the room.

I kept thinking of Chase nonstop, I missed his laugh, I missed his smile, I missed his voice, I missed his eyes, I missed his lips. Wait, what? His lips, oh dear god.

I missed literally everything.
