Two years passed and Jun quickly adapted to the training grounds, he became qualified to be Sylvia's official knight and cook.

Due to his dedication to sword training he quickly rose up in the ranks and was thought of as a prodigy.

Although he had also been training to cook, upon getting into the kitchen, he was already fully qualified and even knew techniques the other cooks were not aware of.

Everyone began to believe the young boy was a true genius.

They also believed he was the bravest person around, after all he was the only one able to stay and stand happily by the demon princess's side.

The two would walk around her courtyard, Jun beaming and Sylvia coldly walking along, only, her eyes almost seemed... happy?

No it had to be an illusion! Or their imagination?

Still, as people saw the weird pair, unknowingly their bias of the demon princess started to change as they no longer tried to stay more than 10 feet away at all times.

"So what's for lunch this time?" Sylvia coldly asked while her bright eyes said another thing.

Jun lightly smiled, although the princess was always cold, by always being by her side he had observed how her eyes changed when she was interested in something, more specifically, food...

"Smoked meat, croissants, light sandwiches, and apple pie."

"Ehem...Good." Sylvia lightly coughed as she tried to maintain her cold exterior.

Once the meal was cooked, Sylvia indifferently scarfed down most of the food. Jun couldn't help lightly smile at his cold princess.

Afterwards, Sylvia eyed Jun up and down before deciding something.

"I guess it's time."

Sylvia had been patiently waiting these past two years in order to teach Jun magic but she didn't want to do it before his body was strengthened.

Due to him never having been able to use magic before, suddenly doing it could cause great strain on his body. Now that he had gained muscle mass from all his training, he was finally ready to learn how to use his magic.

Just like she had thought, him becoming a knight was perfect for training his body before introducing him to his own magic

"Follow me." Sylvia quietly whispered to Jun, she couldn't risk anyone finding out.

From now on, she would begin to teach him magic, keeping it completely confidential.

Hearing his Princess's serious tone, Jun silently obeyed and followed her.

Quietly she led him outside to the outskirts of the courtyard, a place she had long ago secured to be safe. No one came to the area, it was unused and abandoned but also apart of her courtyard so no one dared to intrude.

After checking the perimeter Sylvia turned to Jun.

"I want you to concentrate on the inner part of your body, breath in and out until you feel something akin to a spark. Focus on that spark and try to manifest it." Jun didn't understand what Sylvia meant but he wouldn't question her. Obediently he followed her instructions.

'What?' Silently as he concentrated he felt a strange unknown power surge within him. He was confused, he had never felt such a powerful force before.

Knowing the boy had sensed something Sylvia spoke. "Now, release it."

Like he was instructed, he quickly released the energy.

In the next second Jun was terribly surprised as the surrounding area was immediately engulfed in darkness.

Everything turned pitch black!

Everything was foggy and dark, not even the Sun would shine through.

Yes, it was completely dark!

'Sylvia? SYLVIA!' Jun's breathing became erratic and suffocated as everything disappeared. He was terribly scared as he wanted to yell out but no words came.

He felt powerless in the darkness, it was as if he was being consumed by it.

No one was there, he was sinking deeper and deeper.

He hated it.

He had always been alone, with nothing but darkness surrounding. He wasn't strong enough, no one would save him...

Yes, he was all alone.

Just as he thought this, a spark of light registered in his surroundings.

"Light...?" Jun looked up dazed and confused.

He thought he had been consumed by the darkness, why was there suddenly light?

As he continued to look, he saw more shining sparks appear, they looked beautiful and dazzling, lighting up the darkness.

It was almost like the Sun...

Unconsciously his breathing turned even, his panicked heart slowed.

He wasn't alone in the darkness.

"Jun?"

Jun looked towards the voice, it was Sylvia, she was surrounded by a faint layer of electrifying sparks.

In all the bleak darkness, she was the light... Like a beaming Sun.

"Sylvia?" Jun's scared face instantly changed into one of pure joy and tears as he rushed to hug her.

"Ah..." Sylvia was caught off guard as the young boy hugged her. 'I guess he still is a child, he must have been overwhelmed releasing his power for the first time.'

Sylvia lightly spoke to the boy who still clung to her. "From now on you must practice using your magic."

"Magic? What magic?" Jun looked up confused, he had never possessed magic of any sort. His body had always been devoid of magic so he was confused by Sylvia's words.

"Long ago your body seems to have been poisoned blocking any magic. After giving you some medicine your body seems to have healed allowing you to now use magic. So from now on I will teach you how to control it." Jun took in all of Sylvia's words and could only become stunned. He had already long ago accepted that he would never be able to use magic, but now his princess had even given this.

He was shocked, but also happy, he wanted to stay by this person's side forever.

"I will work extra hard at learning how to use it so that I can be useful!" Jun resolutely held Sylvia's hand as though reminding himself of his oath while his other hand was used to wipe away his teary eyes.

Yes, no matter what he had to protect this person! He didn't want to ever see them hurt or sad.

He just wanted to keep her safe and continue to enjoy his leisure days where she ate the food he cooked. Without her he would have died long ago, she had saved him and given him a reason to live.

To him she was his bright light, like a star in the dark sky... No, his Sun.
