The Last Hope

-With Garmadon and Overlord-

"The clock is only hours away from finishing its countdown to the final battle between good and evil, Garmadon. Why so sad?" Overlord asked. Garmadon looked at the Overlord. "Me? Sad? Ha! Nonsense. I couldn't be happier. It's just..."

"Lloyd." Overlord grimaced.

"I still have to battle my son in order to turn Ninjago into my own image." Garmadon said. Overlord came closer to Garmadon. "Battle... AND defeat, if evil is to prevail." Garmadon frowned and and looked at the perch from where the Helmet of Darkness was rested at.

Garmadon then walked away back to the base.

-With the Ninja-

"Order up! Coconut cream pie. Served well done." Kai said, Cole then launched a coconut into the sky and Kai shot at it, making the coconut explode.

I, on the other hand, was practicing my flying so I could exceed my time limit. I took notes and found out I could only fly for ten minutes before I became fatigued. I landed and panted, "It is good to have our powers back." Zane said.

"Yep, you're right. And since we've all been working on our witty quips to follow every cool thing we do," Cole then ran to get another coconut, "I'd say we've got this final battle in the bag. Ot should I say..." Jay gave Cole the signal and Cole threw it in the air. "I'd be shocked if we lose." Jay then shot the coconut, making it explode.

I sighed, "Enough!" Sensei Wu said. I looked at him and looked at my elemental blade. "Are you trying to reveal our hidden location?" Sensei pointed at the Ninja with his bamboo staff. "Uh, sorry Sensei. We were just practicing our cool new elemental blades." Kai said.

"And our witty quips." Jay said. I rolled my eyes, "Be wary of overconfidence, ninja. While it is true your powers can defeat the stone army, only Lloyd alone has the power to defeat Garmadon. When it is all over, then we'll see who laughs last." Sensei Wu put his hand behind his back.

"Yes, Sensei." The ninja said together. I then grabbed my sword and left with Sensei Wu. I then saw Dr. Julian and Lloyd looking at the Falcon, Zane had brought back. "Every cog, every gear is important. If one piece is missing, or out of place, the invention won't work." Dr. Julian said as he finished fixing the Falcon. "Come now, little one. Time to fly." 

Falcon screeched and flew away. "It is like you ninja. You each serve very important roles, and are each key parts to a magnificent fighting force." In the distance, I saw Cole almost shooting down the bird, but Zane stopped him. I chuckled and approached Lloyd.

"If we're all gears, what if I'm the one that doesn't work? What if I don't do my part? What if I can't defeat my father?" Lloyd frowned, "What if there are no more 'what ifs'? The final battle is almost upon us. When that time comes, we will know the answer to what if, whether we like it or not." Sensei Wu said.

"We know you don't want to face your father, but there's no other choice." I said. "But perhaps there is. I used to think it was inevitable, but then I found this.." Misako said.

"You mean maybe Lloyd doesn't have to fight? Oh, this I gotta hear." Cole said. "The scrolls say that when the Helmet of Darkness is bequeathed to its rightful ruler, the celestial clock will count down to the activation to an unspeakable weapon. The first sign that the final battle has begun." Misako explained.

"Did you just say unspeakable weapon?" Kai asked.

"Uh, I'm still stuck on what 'bequeathed' means..." Jay said.

"Go on, Misako. Don't let us interrupt you. How do we stop the final battle?" Cole asked.

"There is nothing here that explains what would happen if the Helmet of Darkness... is returned." Misako said. "Interesting. Remove the helmet, the clock starts. Put it back, the clock stops." Sensei said. "And the final battle never starts." Lloyd said afterwards.
