I'm updating since I am in a good mood,  I got my Bachelor's degree in English literature :) just got the results today after two days of stress ^^ I'm so happy x) Now it's time to tackle the master's degree inshallah x) Enjoy your reading xx

I straightened up and hid behind Shivaay, leaving him to explain to his mother why she had found them like that.

"Nothing is happening mom. She almost fell that's all I just prevented her from falling." Pinky just hummed as I got down the stairs with a little smirk. Had she come a bit later, she would have witnessed our make-out session. I smiled as I approached my father and Gauri. I handed four gifts to each of them.

"These are your gifts for the last three birthdays I missed and a special something I bought before coming back." I smiled as I saw them opening their gifts. As Daddy opened the box which contained the watch, I could see him furrowing his brows.

"This watch is so beautiful!" He trailed off. "I feel like I had seen it before though, but I don't know where!" He said and I facepalmed my face mentally. I completely forgot that I had bought the same one for Shivaay but in a different color. But then how could I have known that I would have to live with my love as siblings.

"You probably saw it in an advertisement Daddy," I suggested and he hummed.

"Anyways, thank you for your gifts baby! Gauri and I also bought some gifts for you. Since you came back today only and with everything that happened, you must have not noticed them but they are all in your room in your closet." Daddy said and I nodded.

"I will see," I said. Gauri also thanked me for her gifts and we hugged.

"Annika, I remember you asking me where was your mom's portrait and I didn't tell you. Come with me." Daddy extended his hand and we walked to a room. It was on the ground floor and was a spare room. Daddy said that it used to be Gauri and I's nursery. As I walked into the room, I could see that it had been renovated.

The walls were adorned with my mother's pictures, the shelves with some toys that she had bought for me as a child. There was a closet and I walked to it. On opening it I found her clothes neatly arranged. I walked around and smiled nostalgically. This place was like a shrine dedicated to my mother. I softly stroked a picture of her carrying me as a baby.

"Thank you." I turned to my dad and ran to him. He engulfed me in his arms as I cried.

"Shh don't cry." He said pecking the top of my head. I felt him moving a little and soon enough, Gauri had also joined the hug.

"My daughters, you grew up to be beautiful women and I sure believe that your mother Alia had helped me from where she is in bringing you up. I wouldn't have succeeded on my own. This place has been made especially for her because she will forever be the first one who stepped into this house 23 years ago as my bride. This room actually consists of the first rocks that built this house. When we started building this house, we started with this room then built the house around it. This room is the core of this house and it is logic to use this place as the place where your mother will be remembered." A few tears left his eyes and landed on my hair, I sensed them. I raised my head and wiped them. Gauri raised her head and smiled. Daddy then held our hands and kissed them.

"You're my only possession in this world Annika, my wealth, this house, my business, even Pinky are not more valuable than you and your sister are in my life, Annika. I'll always do everything to keep you happy even if your happiness means losing myself. You're not only my daughters Annika, but you're also my lifelines and nothing and no one can change that."

After the emotional moment with dad and Gauri, I went to my room to pack since we were to go to the farmhouse on the next day. I had seen the gifts dad and Gauri had bought for me and I was happy. They had bought me a teddy bear as they knew about my love for soft toys, I also got sunglasses and car keys. The last one made me perplexed though and I went back downstairs to ask daddy about this gift of his.

"Well, Annie I think you're big enough, no?" He said and I smiled. He asked me to follow him and we went to the garage. There stood a blue car.

"Pinky and I were glad when you sent this picture you a month ago stating that you got your driving license. So we decided to surprise you with this car. I know that you're still finding it difficult to accept her, that's why I didn't tell her to join us for us to show you this car." Daddy smiled a little and I hugged him.

"Thank you for this car Daddy, and tell Pinky that I love this gift." I smiled warmly at my dad and we left the garage. As I went back upstairs to continue my packing I subtly signed Shivaay to follow me upstairs as I walked past him. I just wanted my dose...
