"How's your grades?" my dad suddenly asked.
"Still in the dean's lister," I confidently said before I smiled at him.
I even showed him my phone to show my grades for the previous semester.
"Make sure that you'll continue to excel in your studies, Adeline. Ayokong malaman na nawala ka sa dean's lister because of some distractions," tumaas ang kilay niya sa akin bago ibinalik ang phone ko. "I don't want to meddle with your relationship, but once I've learned that your studies are being affected because of your lovelife, you know what will happen next."
"Yes, dad."
"What's your goal again?"
"To graduate with Latin honors," I said.
"You're now in your third year. It's good to know that you're still aware of your goals." he said firmly.
The dinner went well. It's been a week since the semester started at ngayon lang ako nakabisita ulit dito sa bahay. My parents went on a business trip for a month that's why we're catching up about a lot of things.
Weeks passed and we're getting stressed little by little. Good thing that my friends don't go to night outs as often as before. Medyo busy sa acads ang lahat lalo na sila Azariah at Calli dahil graduating na sila.
Reese and I we're helping each other in studying our lessons. Tinutulungan ko siya sa mga lessons na hindi niya maintindihan and she's doing the same thing.
"Gustong mag-doktor pero hirap sa Biochem," she hissed.
She has a point! I pouted. I was really having a hard time studying chemical structures. Napaisip tuloy ako. Paano nalang kung magdo-doktor nga ako? For sure, hindi lang ito ang lessons doon. Alam ko pa na ang lesson na halos isang sem dini-discuss sa college ay minsan isang araw lang sa medschool!
Pero, feeling ko naman ay kakayanin ko yon. Lalo na kung gusto ko naman ang ginagawa. I immediately shrugged it off dahil alam kong hindi rin naman ako didiretso sa medschool after kong gumraduate.
"Mukhang piattos," I rolled my eyes after doing a benzene structure.
Nasa library kami ngayon. Bukod sa nagpapalamig dito, nag-aaral na rin kami. She helped me understand the lesson. Pero natagalan pa iyon ng ilang sandali at napagod na ako.
"Wake me up after five minutes," sabi ko kay Reese bago umidlip sandali.
I needed to have a power nap dahil may klase pa kami mamaya hanggang alas otso. Tatlong subject lang naman kami para sa ngayong araw, but I felt so tired.
"You need to provide a research proposal until next week. Once approved, you will be doing a research paper until finals. Are we clear?" our prof said before she dismissed the class.
