"Bakit siya nandito?"

Rinig kong tanong ng isang lalaki nang bahagya akong gumalaw sa kama. Nagising kasi ako ng may marinig akong mga boses sa loob ng kwarto.

"Nagkita lang kami," Jayce casually said.

I didn't move nor opened my eyes and pretended to be asleep. So I unintentionally ended up hearing their conversation. Fortunately, there was a small pillow on the top of my head, hiding a bit of my face.

"Why did she end up sleeping here?" tanong nung isang babae.

Teka... familiar yung mga boses na yun ah?

"Mommy..." I heard a little voice. "Sleep," I heard her yawn a bit.

"Anak, on the couch nalang. Someone is sleeping in the bed pa. You might wake her up."

"Aliyah," the woman called with a hint of warning in her tone.

Until I felt someone lie down beside me. I'm not sure who it was, but it doesn't bother me. All I want to do is to sleep more. Hindi ko magawang idilat ang mga mata ko at bumangon ng kama dahil baka kung ano ang isipin ng mga kausap ni Jayce ngayon.

"Let her sleep. Baka napagod sa byahe," I heard Jayce's voice again.

Ah, okay. So Aliyah yung pangalan nung bata. Siya yung nandito ngayon sa kama, katabi ko at natutulog.

"Nag-breakfast na ba kayo?"

"Kanina, pero gutom ulit kami, di'ba Leane?"

Oh! That's why her voice was familiar!

"I would like to agree with Archer," Leane answered.

Kaya familiar ang mga boses nila!

"We ate breakfast earlier. Pero kanina pa 'yon," si Leane ulit. "Ang aga kaya ng cut-off sa ferry papunta rito!"

"Inabala mo na nga ako..." Archer said, but Jayce cut him off.

"Oo na. Kumain na tayo," Jayce said.

I heard Archer murmured something which made Leane laugh a bit. "I'm not sure. Pero I can ask for a room service."

"Are you sure it's okay to leave Aliyah here, sleeping?" Leane asked.

"Trust me, she's safe here..." Archer said.

"I know she's a good person naman. There's no doubt!" Leane.

Were they talking about me?
