"I'll give it a try."

Jayce and I were having lunch today.

"If that's what makes you happy, then I'll support you all the way. Heads up lang baby, it's not going to be easy."

I bit my lower lip. Almost everyone was asking me to run for a position in the FEU - Central Student Org. Isa pa, mas magiging proud sila mommy and daddy noon. I will graduate with Latin Honors plus active pa sa student-leadership nila yung unica hija nila diba?

"Do you think I'll win?"

Wala naman talaga sa plano ko iyon lalo na't nahirapan na nga akong mag-balanse ng oras ko last sem, but there's something in me that wanted to give it a try.

I shouldn't say no to opportunities, especially if it's for my growth right?

Nagiging leader na rin naman ako. So I guess, trying this one would just teach me on how to be an effective leader too.

"You're well-known and with your good standing in the university, I'm sure you'll win."

Indeed, he was right. I won as the Secretary of the FEUCSO. I wasn't really expecting it. Pero baka tama nga si Jayce, they have known me as an achiever student.

My friends even threw a simple celebration for it. He told me that he'd help me in anyway that he can, lalo na't naging part na rin siya ng student org before sa UST.

We reviewed some papers to check which programs and activities shall continue and not. We're also checking kung pasok ba iyon sa magiging budget.

"Good afternoon," I looked at the woman who greeted me. "Ms. Salvador," she offered her hand. "I'm sure you knew me already?"

I nodded. Of course, she's the guidance counsellor here in our campus.

She looked nice and approachable. She was wearing a white short-sleeved blouse paired with black slacks. She wasn't wearing heels, though. I think she was already in her early thirties.

"Adeline," I took her hand and lightly shook it.

Having my internship here actually felt good. Lalo na't student leader ako, atleast, if we have an emergency meeting, madaling makapag-paalam.

"I just want you to know that I will not just let you file and sort some documents in the office," panimula niya. "I will be giving you opportunities to experience individual, group and classroom counselling."

I smiled at her. I'm glad that she will be hands - on in mentoring me during this internship period.
