Dimitri

I was boiling with anger.

Our memories came flashing back in front of my eyes.

A knock on the door brought me back to the reality

"What is it?"

“Sir I need your sign for the project assigned to the interns.”

"I started signing the papers."

“ It’s a big project sir do you think they’ll be able to do it? Most of them are not yet aware of all the concepts."

"How many of them have arrived?"
I asked giving him a cold glare.

“Only Ms. Adams has arrived yet.”

I nodded.

April….

A quick idea passed my mind...

She said she’ll prove her worth.
I’ll give her a chance to prove her worth.

"Hand over the project to her, call the others and say it’s a day off."

“But sir…”

"Do what you have asked to and let her know clearly until the project is done she can not step a foot outside the office."

“yes sir..”

I quickly got up from my seat and poured myself a glass of whiskey.

I won’t be able to focus on my work today.

I took out my phone and texted Delilah,
“Are you free today?”

I picked up my blazer from the seat and went out of the office.

I don’t remember how many drinks I had last night but those were needed to soothe the pain inside me.

*The next day*

I got down from my car and head straight to my office.

I was walking towards my office when I saw the lights in the conference room were still on.

That’s weird.

I checked my watch. It was 7 in the morning.

No one comes so early to the office.

I twisted the door knob and walked in.

I walked forward to see the person’s face sitting in the room.

April….

What is she doing here so early in the morning?

She was cuddled into a ball and sleeping peacefully on the desk.

Papers scattered all around the table.

Was she here all night?

The morning sunlight hitting her face gave her a beautiful golden glow.

She looked beautiful…..

For the first time, I properly looked at her face.

She has long brown hair reaching her hip, a slender figure, way short for her age.

I chuckled at my thought.

I actually thought she was a high school kid or something.

But her face… it always held a sad look.

Giving her one final look I slowly walked out of the office.

"Come on in."

“Did you call me sir?”
