April

The past couple of days went really well.

Mr. Martínez has been behaving really nice to me since then.

He even smiled at me twice.

Yes, I counted but I don’t know why.

Everything at home is going well too.

We all had meals together and watched TV without having any arguments.

Despite everything going well, somehow I failed to fully be in the moment and enjoy it till it lasts.

Though I crave these few moments in my life when everything is going well, I can not help but fear them the most.

These moments are like painkillers.

They momentarily give me relief, soothes the pain, makes me believe it’s gone, and just when I start to believe, it comes back again much stronger than before.

It twists and crumbles me from inside and left me to beg for that painkiller again to take me back to the illusion that it’s all well.

It goes on again and again like a cycle.

*Finger snap*

“Hello???”

I snap back to reality and saw a hand moving sideways in front of my eyes.

I look beside me confused, to see a guy standing next to me.

He was definitely more than 6 ft tall, messy blonde hair, His ocean blue eyes looking directly at me in amazement.

He again snapped his finger at me.

I quickly look down realizing I was looking at him.

He let out a chuckle.

“Are you done checking me out?”

“I know I’m handsome.”

He laughed out.

“Am I going to get some coffee today?”

I looked up to him not quite understanding what he meant.

He indicates in front of me.

I looked forward to seeing my coffee cup placed on the machine.

I bit down on my lips in embarrassment.

“I-I so sorry….”

I quickly picked up my cup and dashed towards the sitting area in the cafeteria before he could say anything.

I sat down on an empty bench in the corner a let out a sigh.

I took a bite of my sandwich and started chewing enjoying the view outside the window.

My self recharge session got cut short as someone pulled the chair and took a seat in front of me.

I looked in front of me shocked and found the guy from before.

“Hey, saw you eating all lonely so I came to cheer you up.”

He gave me a quick wink and started gobbling on his sandwich.

I stared at him feeling blank and uncomfortable.

He stopped chewing and looked at me.

“Oh, I’m sorry….”

He put down his food and extended his hand towards me

“Hi, it’s Lucas, I am from the finance department.”
