I pulled out my phone and quickly dialed a number.

“Hello, boss what can I do for you?”

“I need some information, as soon as possible.”

“Sure boss.”

“I'll send you the name.”

I was still boiling with anger.

I have to do something.

I can not let her be near that bustard anymore.

My phone beeped.

I shut the laptop finishing my work.
The clock read 6:30 Pm.

I looked at his empty chair.

He still hasn’t returned yet.

To be honest I really needed some alone time and I was actually happy that he left.

I picked up my bag and walked out of the office.

I decided to take a long walk.

I couldn’t help but think of why he was suddenly treating me nicely?

He even offered me this job when he clearly hated my work.

Is it out of pity again?

But this time I don’t have any choice.

I need to take this job.

I promised.

I promised mom that I would take her out of there and if that means I have to forget about my self-respect and face his wrath, hatred, and humiliation again and again then so be it.

It’s nothing new though.

I have been treated this way for as long as I can remember, I should get used to being treated like dirt by now.

I let out a breath.

Yeah, you can do this.

I walked in to see my father still passed out on the couch.

I slowly walked upstairs to see mom lying on the bed.

“You came back. What’s the time?” she asked slowly looking up to me.

“Have you had dinner yet?” I asked.

She nodded her head sideways.

“you take some rest I’ll make the dinner.”

I quickly freshen up and went downstairs.

I prepared dinner trying not to make any noise.

I walked into the living room and placed my dad’s dinner on the table and took a good look at him.

He looked so peaceful sleeping like this.

No yelling, no cursing, no harsh words.

No matter how rudely and inhumanly he treats me but I can not deny the fact that at the end of the day he is still my father.

Why are we like this dad?

Why can’t we be like a normal happy family?

I let out a soft sigh.
