The following week had came rather quickly. After arriving back at Michigan a while back, Chris was now driving over to Precious College.

Glancing out the window as he spoke to his mom on the phone, he couldn't help but look around; taking in the surroundings. The last time he was here was nine months ago, but it had felt like much longer. He had left broken and with a heavy heart after him and Precious' break-up, and coming back nine months later, things felt different, almost as if it were his first time here, despite it being where he grew up. Michigan wasn't as exciting and thrilling as New York, they were two very different cities, but he preferred being back here just as much. Despite the fact that he had abruptly ran away from this city a year ago after his father's death which destroyed him in more ways than one, there was a sense of warmness and tranquil breeze that calmed him in ways that he could not explain.

Moments later, he drove past his old High School; remembering all the drama that went down in his Senior year and how he had missed his graduation with everybody else, due to how he couldn't bare to be around everyone. He remembered his old friends, his high popularity with students and even teachers, his high grades, his bad habits of smoking and doing drugs that he had picked up along the way and how he would sometimes skip class because of it, his drama with ex girlfriends, but more importantly he remembered the time he spent with Precious there. It all felt like a big blur. He is turning twenty this year, it didn't seem that long ago till he turned eighteen and first thought about killing himself. After all his relationship with his parents then was the main thing that took a heavy toll on him, he had no purpose in life, nothing to look forward to and he never saw himself being truly happy, but it was all different now. Even though he still had a long way to go with himself, he found the strength that he needed to, unlike then.

He quickly drove by a few people he recognized from High School, before fixating his gaze back on the road and continuing his phone call with his mom.

"Have you been back to see your father's grave yet, honey?" Caroline asked over the phone in a frail and tired tone.

He breathed out a quiet sigh and held the phone closer to his ear before speaking up. "No not yet... Cecelia and I are planning to go see it together tomorrow morning before I come back to New York" he stated quietly and hesitantly, awaiting her response. He knew his mother's feelings towards Cecelia and was sure she was either going to ignore his statement or brush it off, but when she didn't, he couldn't help but smile.

"Alright, honey... just make sure you're okay" she replied briefly.

The last time he had gone to see his Father's grave was on the morning he left a year ago. His emotions were simply scattered all over the place, and he didn't stop to think about anything, before making one of the biggest mistakes of his life. "I will" he muttered quietly. "Why don't you try and get some sleep mom?... is Anna there?" he asked, before glancing down at his watch as it read '4'05 pm'.

"She's in the kitchen making dinner. I invited Ian, Val and the baby too, they're on their way. Someone has to make sure they're okay while you're away" she said as a smile spread across his lips. "By the way is something going on with the two of them again? they've been spending a lot of time together ever since the past month?" she asked.

"I uh... I'm not really sure. She's been helping him deal with the situation with his daughter a lot better than I have and he's gotten closer to Ralph" he explained, turning to glance out the window. As he heard Anna's voice in the background, he smiled once again to himself before speaking back up. "I'll uh leave you two alone, I gotta go, I love you".

"I love you too, honey, drive safe" she replied.

He hung up the call and lowered the phone from his ear, before throwing it down onto the passenger's seat. Sticking his arm out the window, he breathed out a deep sigh, allowing the early spring evening breeze to blow in his direction as his mind ultimately drifted back to her.
