Owls ears filled with white noise as he stared down at the limp body of the faun, which was being crushed between the ground and the lost one's enormous paw.
He didn't know what he felt.
His whole body tilted forward before he started sprinting in the attacker's direction. Amare must have shouted something towards him but all it did was create a short halt in the static that rumbled through Owls ears. The vampire launched himself on the lost one, his claws digging into its flesh like a ray of arrows. He pushed the perpetrator off of the fauns body, tackling the lost one onto the ground next to it.
Before he knew it a scream shot through his throat and out of his mouth, like an electric pulse that he wasn't able to stuff down. And it's not like he even tried to do so. "HOW FUCKING DARE YOU!!" his voice was like the strike of thunder against the stillness of the forest. The trees around him humming back with the wind as if on command to his broken words. He wanted to shout something else after it but the blankness of his mind made him emulate only a gutty growl before he started to dig further into his opponent. As if the flesh and bones of the other were a fragile sandcastle he was able to destroy with just a few moments.
Naturally, he got swatted off by the creature, letting out a pained wheeze as his body tumbled to the ground. A sharp breeze, however, made the approaching lost one trip and fall before he could get to Owl, and sink his teeth in his flesh.
"FUCK OFF! STOP BOTHERING ME!" The vampire shouted, standing back up and baring his teeth to the witch.
Amare flinched back but quickly collected herself "I'm trying to help you!" She yelled back, squeezing her staff as the wind tugged on her clothing and hair.
"WELL, I DON'T NEED HELP FROM SCUM LIKE YOU!!" The male hissed back before turning around to the lost one and once again attacking its wiggling body with his claws and teeth. This time because of Amares' previous attack the male was able to quickly decapitate the creature, twisting its head around in his palms as if he was opening a bottle.
With a frustrated growl, he chucked the head away from him and into the bundle of plants.
Owl felt a pair of warm hands grip his arm.
"Fuck off." He hissed, shrugging Amares' palms away from himself before standing back up from his spot on the limp, decapitated body.
Without sparing the lavender skinned woman a glance he limped over to the stiff body of the faun. Owl dropped to his knees and turned her so she was laying on her back. He bit his lip and moved away strands of thick hairs from the woman's' pale, lifeless face. Her expression was empty, eyes and mouth still open, however, frozen in time. Blood was dripping from her nose and mouth, creating a slow steady stream down and to the sides of her face. His gaze moved down to her rib cage, which was pushed into itself from the back, making bumps across the woman's skin, due to the broken bones sticking out in every direction, pushing into her flesh.
He took a deep breath that he couldn't really feel under all his strained muscles. He was numb, extremely numb. Not strong enough to even force out a single tear. His eyes were dry. Burning.
The witch behind him look down horrified at the bloodied body of the faun but didn't cry eighter. She swallowed uncomfortably with her dry mouth, bowed down, and clasped her hands together. A symbol of goodbye amongst witches. It was more of a ceremonial practice, but it was the least she could do. She wasn't a healer. Although Amare was sure that even if she was one she wouldn't be able to do a single thing with the woman's broken spine and shattered rib cage. Besides, the half-goat females' eyes were by now completely lifeless.
"Have you stopped grieving?" The same harsh voice reached their ears making Amare spin around and bare her staff to the front like a sword. Owl looked back slowly only for his eyebrows to knit in pure anger seeing the female vampire they met before the fight. "It's useless. Your tears and sorrow won't bring her back to life."
