"Laura, please let go of that squirrel." Noah pleaded to his small sister who had her hands clasped around the frightened animal.

"But I found them! Their name is Frederic now and they'll be my life companion!" She exclaimed in pure excitement, pressing the small creature against her body protectively. The girl was small, as expected seeing as she was only 7 years old. She had short ginger hair, identical in color to Noahs, and two green eyes that were slightly darker than her older brothers. Laura's frilly dress was covered in mud stains and sand, at that point however no one in the family really minded it. The girl was too erratic to stand still for more than a minute and so nobody expected of her to keep the clothes she wore clean.

She and Noah were standing in the forests clearing right next to their wooden house. Per usual father asked him to go and look for his two younger siblings and make sure they didn't get into too much trouble.

"Laura I'm sure Frederic would be much happier if you let them go." Noah coaxed with a troubled expression.

The little girl hung her head low before sighing "Alright." She put the small animal back onto the grass, it instantly scurried away back into the forest.

"Frederic..." Laura murmured with a sour expression, twiddling her thumbs.

"Hey, it's alright," Noah said, carrasing the top of the girl's head as he usually does.

"No, it's not." She sniffled. "Frederic ran away...they left me..."

"You know Laura. Sometimes we need to let things go." He looked into her two pools of green that reminded him so much of his own. "Either things were just not meant to be with us or things need to change."
Noah smiled gently, trying to make his sister feel better.

Laura sighed in defeat "...alright I guess."

A sudden shuffle from the forest made both you and Laura turn towards it. Sam, Noah's little brother popped his head out of the dark tangle of plants, grinning widely, showing off the gaps in his pearl whites. He was a scrawny kid with a face dusted in dark freckles, wild red hair tamed only partially with a hairband at the left side of his head and two shiny eyes. One of blue and the other of light green.

"Laury look what I found!" The boy exclaimed, lifting up his hands that had a fluffy squirrel clasped in between.

The girl gasped, getting out of Noah's hold and running up to her brother at light speed. "Frederic!" She exclaimed.

"Kids...no..." Noah protested weakly but it fell to deaf ears as both his younger siblings started giggling wildly, Laura dancing around in circles with the small animal squished protectively in her hold.

"Laury come on!" Sam giggled, pulling on his sister's hand. Both of them immediately dove into the dark tangle of trees, and all Noah could do was listen as their laughs and footsteps drifted further and further away from him. Until the disappeared completely.

The ginger male sighed. "These two are hopeless." Most of his attempts at stopping their shenanigans have ended in failure, his gentle persona not enough to stop the two tiny tornados from terrorizing every animal in existence. To give the small siblings credit though, they did know a lot more about the forest then he ever did, it was like they visited every spot and explored every cranny there was. Although I guess that was a given when all you do all day is run around looking for anything vaguely animal-like.

With a tilt to his posture the young boy turned on his heel and walked back towards his house, the painted on sun pierced by an arrow greeting him in the doorway by the porch. The structure was strong, made out of thick blocks of wood glazed over with a shimmering top coat. The doors were made of darker more elegant wood that also decorated the frames of the small windows as well as the rims of the rooftop.
