The smile on your face was unbreakable. Your day had been busy but wonderful as you caught up with a close friend of yours. You closed the door behind you, expecting to find Sofia on the couch with the show she's been binge-watching over the last day or two.

But instead, you saw her with her jaw clenched and her phone on her lap.

"You're home?" She asked, almost angrily.

"Yeah. What's going on? You seem upset." You said as you sat down beside her.

"Well, how am I supposed to react when I see photos of you all over twitter and Instagram of you out with your ex!?" She scoffed and unlocked her phone, throwing it onto your lap for you to see the pictures she had been tagged in. Fans and gossip sites had posted the pictures of you and her everywhere! They had even created some crazy rumors to go along with it.

You felt bad. Not because you had done anything wrong but because people were either too blind or too ignorant to see that you'd never do anything to hurt Sofia in any way and especially not by cheating on her.

"Sofia, listen to me." You tried to grab her hand but she pulled away. She kept her gaze on the floor or on her feet. Anywhere but at you.

"Please don't be like this, baby. Just let me explain."

"What's there to explain?" She rolled her eyes.

"A lot! Come on, Sofia. You know that I would never cheat on you. I love you so much."

You heard a heavy sigh fall from her lips before she looked up at you. Her gaze fell to your hand that gently laid over hers. She didn't push you away this time.

"Yes, that is my ex. Yes, we still talk and hang out, but we don't have any feelings for each other. She's in her own relationship, she just told me today that she plans on proposing to her girlfriend. She has her own life now and so do I. We didn't have a messy breakup. We were friends for years before we began dating and we promised each other that if anything ever happened we'd stay friends. We might be close, but there are no lingering feelings there any longer. I love you. Only you."

You watched her lips pull into a smile before you felt her fingers intertwine with your own. "I love you too. I'm sorry for the way I acted. I just get scared sometimes, because I love you and you're the best thing that has ever happened to me and I never wanna lose you."

You brought her hand to your lips and planted a soft kiss to it. "And you never will. I promise."

She let go of your hand to wrap her arms around you. She hugged you tight and kissed the side of your head, mumbling sweet words against your hair, thankful that you had such a great relationship that you could always talk things out and be honest with each other, no matter what.
