Laura drove to Tom's place and let herself in.
Tom was not home so she started to pick up her
things. She didn't realize how much stuff she had
brought over but a good part of items were right
here mixed with his. This would be more than a box
...he's crazy. She was crying while she put the things
she needed daily together and ready herself to leave.
In the box was her ring. He told her to keep it and not
give it back so she wasn't going to. He had to know
she wants to be committed to him...someday. She
wrote a note, "Tom, I'm so sorry. I never wanted to
hurt you. I love you more than life itself. I hope you
can find it in your heart to forgive me someday. I will
never love anyone like I love you.P.S. I can't get
everything tonight as I need time to get myself
another apartment. If that is a problem let me know."
As Laura put the note on the refrigerator she cried.
She couldn't believe this was happening. After all
they have been through. She thought back to some
of the nights after he came home from the hospital
he was in so much pain he was in tears. She helped
him through by massaging him, helping him relax,
making sure his pain medications stayed steady,
and just holding him, loving him. They had seemed
to reach a whole new level of intimacy during this time
and she saw them as one person not two, she thought
he did too. Obviously she was wrong. This was a side
of him she did not know existed, the side she thought
he must have used on his dad when he left. When
Tom's dad left he stopped loving him and he never
spoke of his dad again. Laura cried, picked up her
box and exited. As she was leaving she saw Trent
pull up.
Trent saw Laura carrying a box and crying. Trent
thought,"What is going on, is Tom okay?" He was
starting to panic. Trent asked, "Laura, what's going
on?" Laura replied, "I can't talk about it." She started
to hand him the key to Tom's place and said, "Here, I
don't want to leave it under the mat with all that equip-
ment inside." Trent pushed it back to her, "Stop! This
is crazy! I don't know what just happened but I do know
that he loves you...he's just mad probably and he will
