I had just got back from Malibu and I was leaving the pet store. My son really wanted a puppy and I haven't spent time with him. I figured this was my way to make it up to him.

He's not my son, but I think of him that way. My ex was pregnant when we met and after I found out, I never left her side.

"I'm coming back." I say.

"Okay." Adam, my son, says.

I hang up and cut through the park. I seen a girl sitting on a bench and she looked homeless. It was 25 degrees and I could tell that she was cold.

"Are you okay?" I ask sitting next to her.

"Not really." She says.

"Is there anything I can do to help?" I ask.

She stays silent and I open my wallet. I give her a $100 bill and she smiles.

"Thank you." She says.

"No problem. I can't live with myself knowing you're out in this weather." I say.

"What does that mean?" She asks.

"You could come stay bat my house for a while." I say.

"Really?" She asks.

"Yes." I say.

"Thank you so much." She says.

"It's nothing." I say.

"Charli." She says building her hand out.

"Y/n." I say.

10 minuets later...

"You have a big house." Charli says looking around.

"I kind of have to." I say.

She raises and eyebrow and Adam runs around the corner. I kneel down and he hugs me.

"Daddy!" Adam says.

He's only 5 and I'm the closest thing he had to a dad.

"This is Charli. What do we say to people we meet?" I ask as he looks at Charli.

"Nice to meet you." He says.

She smiles and he runs back upstairs.

"He's so nice." Charli says.

"I had bad parents, so I taught him how to be nice." I say.

"You did a good job." She says.

"Thank you." I say.

Time Skip

"This is where you'll be sleeping. You can stay as long as you want and let me know if you need anything." I say.

"Thank you for all of this." Charli says.

"It's nothing." I say.

She smiles and I leave.

"Y/n." She says.

"Yeah?" I ask turning around.

She hugs me and I smile.

"Goodnight." She says.

"Goodnight." I say leaving.

3:00 AM

I couldn't sleep, so I went downstairs. I saw Charli drinking water and I tapped her on the shoulder. She tried to hit me and I dodged her.
