Around The Way Girl by LL Cool J blasted through my parent's house as my cousins played in the living room. My dad, Izaiah, and the rest of the guys were in the back room playing cards. I was in the kitchen listening to my aunts and mother gossip while preparing the food.
"Then Kianna had the nerve to ask me to loan her some money for that phone bill. Mind you she haven't paid the damn thing since June." My auntie said talking about one of my older cousins.
"How the hell she been on the phone for damn near 6 months without paying it off?" My other aunt asked.
"I don't know but whenever Ki get here I'm finna ask her who she with cause I need that plan, okay?" My mother said making us erupt in laughter but agreeing with her.
"Front door" The security system sounded letting us know somebody just came in. I swear that security system got in the way of so many of my sneaky moves. Couldn't do shit without it saying something.
"My baby!" My momma screeched as Isaac walked in the house.
"She don't never greet me like that." I said shaking my head while putting the marshmallows on top of the yams.
"That's cause she don't like you." Isaac said smiling as he hugged our mother. I flipped him off.
"And who is this young lady?" My mother asked causing me to look up and see a girl standing beside Isaac.
"This my girlfriend Jocelyn. Jocelyn this my mom, my sister, and some of my aunties." He introduced us.
Girlfriend!? Never thought I'd see the day.
"Hey nice to meet y'all. It smells so good in here." Jocelyn said giving a polite smile.
"Thank you sweetie, you can call me Ms. Niecy." My mother told her.
After she got acquainted with my aunts I went up to my brother embracing him.
"You got so big Ike." I told him as we got out of the hug.
"I know, she runs track so she always want me to work out with her and eat that nasty ass vegan shit. It's helping though." He said flexing.
"Watch your mouth." My mother said while she put the banana pudding in the refrigerator. He smacked his lips.
"It never gave nasty cause you definitely be tearing that food up." Jocelyn said waving him off.
