Chapter Twenty-seven (Poem: Day 15 of 41)

I arrive at home almost dark already. My father and Reyñier are already at home and good thing hindi mainit ang ulo ni Papa ngayon. I just change my clothes first before going to the kitchen para magsaing ng kanin.

My mind is a little bit haywire and my body is also tired from the practice. I even just ask my brother to buy our viand himself dahil sumasakit na rin ang paa ko. He's about to complain but he got no choice when I bulges my eyes at him.

Amp. Reklamo pa eh Wala namang naiambag sa gawaing bahay.

So I am left with my father inside and here comes another awkward air in between us two. While washing the rice, I chose to open about Mama's unexpected call earlier. "Pa, tumawag si Mama kanina." I informed him.

I notice that he's putting an alcohol his arms, now looking at me from the sala. "Bakit daw?"

I shrug my shoulder. "Ewan, iniwan ko phone ko sa classroom. Nagpa-practice kami kanina eh."

The next few minutes is still awkward after my father chose not to reply me. I grab my phone from my room then check on my messenger if may announcement ba or what. I just saw few messages from different GCs about our sched for tomorrow's practice then nothing more.

Just when I am about to turn off my data connection, I catch a glimpse of a photo where Ate Leslie is tagged.

It's a group picture.

I scan those smiling faces and my gaze stops at one particular person at the back part. He is showing his smile again but is it just me or what, but it seems like it doesn't reach on his eyes. Alexis Dominic has really this uneven smile, where you couldn't conclude if it's by nature or he is just hiding something painful inside. I automatically save the picture and transfer to my download folder and zoom the photo in.

Omg! Ang gwapo talaga mga mamser.

That scarred right brow is an epitome of someone I couldn't point out. I mean, para siyang playboy pero trust me, hindi. Alexis is a good man and marami na akong narinig tungkol sa kaniya. Iba talaga kapag sikat eh.

I turned off my phone when my brother calls me na nakabili na raw siya. He bought ten pieces of barbeque few blocks from ours then we dig in. While munching my rice, I felt my phone vibrated inside my short kaya napansin ko agad.

I check for the caller ID and it says, 'Mamaaaaa'

Oh, don't bark. I am really fond of prolonging letters for it not to sound awkward. I swipe my phone before putting it into speaker.

"Ma," I called, biting the pice of meat from the stick. "napatawag ka kanina?"

I hear a little sound from the background before we finally heard her voice.

"Ayy wala naman. Hindi kasi kami busy kanina sa tindahan."

I nodded my head kahit 'di naman niya ako nakikita. I grab a glass of water nang kinuha na ni Reyñier ang phone ko at pumasok sa kwarto.

Pabibo talaga 'yon. Siguro may hihingiin na naman. Ayaw niya kasing iparinig kay Papa dahil baka pagalitan daw siya.

Tanga talaga.

The night ended so well and I lay on my bed peacefully after washing the dishes. Nasa akin talaga lahat ng trabaho dito. Sarap bigwasan nung batang walang ambag eh. I turn on my mobile data again and saw lots of messages sa GC naming apat. I didn't open it na since may bukas pa naman. I am already sleepy and sigurado naman ako na kung ano iyong nga napag-usaan nila sa GC, mapag-uusapan din 'yan bukas.

I am just so tired kaya I drift off to sleep and woke up, having a almost drained battery. Punyeta, I forgot to turn the mobile data off last night! Ah! Paano ako nito ngayon?!
