Benrey || {1/5} If they found a kid in Black Mesa

{Benrey X Child! Reader}

(Takes place after Act 3 Part 1)

 Benrey never expected to find a kid alone in Black Mesa, especially now. His first instinct was to ask the kid for their passport, of course he wasn't serious. When he approached the small figure curled up in the corner they looked up.

 "You got a passport, kiddo?" Benrey asked, not thinking he sounded serious until the kid burst into tears.

 "I'm sorry! I didn't mean to not have it! Please don't hurt me!" The kid, who looked to be around 7-10, sobbed putting their arms up in defense.

 "Woah- I'd be pretty cringe if I hurt a kid." Benrey said, using is Black Mesa sweet voice to calm the kid down. After seeing the kid visibly calm down he put his hand out for them to grab, and they did. Benrey then helped them up, and the kid gave a smile.

 "Thank you, security-guard-man." The kid spoke, realizing they hadn't told Benrey their name, they decided to say it "I'm [Y/N]."

 "It wouldn't be a pro gamer move if I didn't tell you my name, now would it?" Benrey asked [Y/N] and they shook their head, giggling. "It's Benrey." Benrey semi-smiled.

 "I'm gonna call you Benny!" [Y/N] had already cheered up, and smiled at Benrey. He smiled back, ruffling their [H/C] hair.

 Benrey then turned his back to [Y/N] and knealed, "C'mon, we're gonna go do somethin' fun." he pointed to his back, inviting [Y/N] to get on his back.

 [Y/N] gasped, "Piggy-back ride!", the 9-year-old jumped on Benrey's back and wrapped their arms around his neck as he held their legs to make sure they didn't fall.

"Alright, let's GOOOOO!!" Benrey was already running full speed by the time he said 'go', and he started making car noises. [Y/N] was giggling their head off as Benrey ran around Black Mesa.

 Benrey and [Y/N] had been sitting somewhere in Black Mesa for a while and Benrey decided to ask "How'd you end up here?", he expected the 'coded' response, even if he had never seen [Y/N] as a character in the game before.

 "I don't know. I'm supposed to say that I was here with my dad because he brought me for take your child to work day, but I don't think he's even real." [Y/N] confessed, catching Benrey off guard, especially since they were 9.

 "Thinkin' you're in some sort of game?" Benrey asked, in a joking way, even if he did know he was in a game.

 "Benny, I don't want to go back to being alone as unused code." [Y/N] cried.

 "Hey, hey," Benrey put his hand on top of [Y/N]'s head as he continued, "I promise I won't leave you and let that dumb crap happen; it'd be pretty cringe if I did." he comforted, ruffling [Y/N]'s hair once again.

 "Thank you." [Y/N] smiled at Benrey, and they went back to making jokes and laughing.

 [Y/N] sat behind Benrey on the large crate, then Benrey said "Gonna catch me? Alright." to another security guard below, and fell off. [Y/N] laughed at him laying on the floor, until they heard and saw other people. [Y/N] immediately froze at the sight of the four men, two with guns. When the crate exploded into pieces from underneath them, and the two security guards were killed, [Y/N] was in shock as they fell to the floor.

 Especially after Dr. Coomer said "Don't fuck with the science team!", and continued to punch the 'dead' bodies. Once [Y/N] realized that Benrey wasn't getting up, they panicked, quickly crawling over to him as the Science Team watched, thoroughly confused on why there was a little kid in Black Mesa. 

"Benny?" [Y/N] spoke, their voice broken with cries as they shook Benrey. "You promised you wouldn't leave!" They sobbed as Tommy came up to them.

 "Hey, it'll be alright." Tommy tried to soothe them, and he tried to pull them away.

 "No! It's not fair!" [Y/N] yelled, trying to fight Tommy off. They ended up letting him pull them away from Benrey, and whispered "He promised..."

 Gordon then picked up [Y/N] with one arm, they were fairly light for how they looked, and said: "Benrey is the worst." and continued walking, the science team following. Everything went on, and they all talked, except [Y/N].

 As they walked through the 'Pita cutter room' [Y/N] finally responded to Gordon's comment, "You're wrong."

 Gordon gave a confused look at the kid he held under his arm as they walked through the next hall, "What?", and he stopped in his tracks when he saw none other than 2 security guards.

 [Y/N]'s eyes lit up at this, they zoned out only focusing on what the security guard on the right was gonna say. When they heard the very familiar voice of Benrey say: "Someone straight, took a dump... in the last room." they struggled to get out of Gordon's grip, until he started mumbling to himself.

 "Benny!" [Y/N] shouted, and happily ran up to the security guard giving him a death-grip hug.

 "Hey, kid." Benrey gave [Y/N] a genuine smile, and [Y/N] gave one back.

 Gordon stared in shock at Benrey lifting [Y/N] on his shoulders, mumbling "What the fuck??" as everyone pulled out their passports, he looked at all of them and made comments, except [Y/N]. "How come you love the kid, but hate me? THEY DON'T HAVE A PASSPORT EITHER!" he asked, yelling.

  Benrey gave the darkest glare he could acheive to Gordon, as [Y/N] looked at Gordon in fear. "It's not very nice to yell at a kid." Benrey grumbled.

 After a little more talking, and Gordon getting angry, they continued on their journey to escape Black Mesa.

 Benrey floated in the void-like space, [Y/N] wide-eyed, as he talked about Gordon and him being friends. Gordon once again holding the child like he did before.

 "Hug?" Benrey asked.

 "NO!" Gordon backed up, turning to run.

 "Wait! I want to hug Benny!" [Y/N] tried to remove themselves from Gordon, unable to.

 As everyone fought the aliens, and ran from Benrey, [Y/N] hung from Gordon's arm. Once the science team, and [Y/N] made it to the space where they were to fight Benrey, [Y/N] refused to fight against him, even after they destroyed everyone's passports. After the fight was over, [Y/N] wouldn't stop screaming and hitting Gordon. Then, he left them, and all there was left was a void. [Y/N] stayed curled up in a ball, that is until they heard the voice of their best friend.

 "No cry." Benrey stated, and [Y/N]'s head shot to his direction.

 "BENNY!" The child exclaimed, giving the anomaly a hug, of which he happily returned.
