IT WAS TWO IN THE MORNING, and Rory couldn't sleep.
Was it a surprise at this point? Lately he'd been doing okay; when he was with Clay, his friend had been there to help him fall asleep, and he'd let Rory sleep in sometimes. In California, Rory had been getting used to the timezone, and falling asleep had been easier than staying awake. But now here he was, staring at the clock on the kitchen wall, watching the time tick by at an impossibly slow rate.
He sighed, wanting to bang his head against a wall. Anything that would knock him out.
The cool night air greeted him when he went outside, stepping into the backyard. He kept fiddling with his phone, wondering if he should call Will or Clay. He'd love to, honestly — but at the same time, he worried about their reactions, and what they might tell Techno.
Rory wasn't angry at Nick and Clay for telling the Discord about his problems, even if it had led to some tension with Tommy (which was quickly resolved) and a slew of encouraging messages from everyone else. He would still trust those boys with his life. But be didn't want Techno to know. And if Techno had to know, he wanted it to be from him, not anyone else.
Still . . . fuck, he really needed to hear another voice that wasn't in his own head. Or at least read someone else's perspective.
