You and your boyfriend John were still upset after the last argument. John kept secrets from you, especially about where he was going during the night to return at dawn with the cowboys. You usually pretend to be asleep, but you can hear his footsteps across the bedroom and when he puts away his gun in the drawer. You know there are things that have to be done for the sake of the ranch, but you can't help but be worried about John. You would not bear it if he put his own life at risk.
But that morning you were willing to make peace with John. You hated that you were angry with each other.
"Hey." you said when you saw him with the horses.
"Hey.", He said and gave you a little smile.
You were silent with him for a while, watching the horses.
"I was just worried about you ...", you finally said. "I don't want you to get hurt... I love you so much."
John, at your side, looked at you with only love in his eyes.
"I know.", he said.
