The drive was beautiful. The trees were bright green, shading the highway into the mountains. The humidity had broken, thanks to an overnight thunderstorm. I was eager to see Skylar's house, tucked away in the Poconos.

"It was my mom's. We used to come up here during the holidays, and sometimes in the summer. She left it to me and my brother, but he doesn't get down here much. I use it more in the winter for skiing. Rent it out the rest of the time," she explained.

Skylar was driving her car that she barely drove.

"I've never skied."

"Really?" Skylar was utterly surprised.

I nodded, still gazing outside. The sky was cloudless and it couldn't have been a better day.

"Yeah, my father was always worried that I'd break a leg. I wasn't that athletic growing up, remember."

Skylar found that funny. "Well, we'll go skiing in the winter if you want."

I liked how she kept talking about the future. I grabbed her hand and squeezed. "Yeah, that will be fun."

When we made our way through the community gate, Skylar stopped at an office and ran in. She came out with some paperwork and then we continued up a fairly steep hill. Most of the houses were covered and hidden behind a wall of trees. It was private, secluded, and just what I needed after being immersed in the city since I moved to New York.

"I love it up here. It's so quiet. When my mom was really sick, I would take her here. It made her feel better. Maybe the fresh air; I don't know. It was good for me, too" she said, and I could hear the pain mixed with fondness. "It was nice just being here with her and forgetting that she was sick."

I squeezed her hand. "What did you guys do?"

"Well, she couldn't do much hiking anymore," she said. "We would play cards, board games, just talk. I'd read to her. She liked that a lot. And sometimes we would just sit out on the back porch and listen. You could hear the woods creaking, the crickets at night and the frogs and birds in the morning. Sometimes you'd catch some fish jumping out of the lake."

"You have a lake?"

"Not all mine. It's pretty big and a bunch of houses surround it, but none too close. We're pretty secluded."

"It sounds really nice."

"It is," she murmured, lost in thought.

Skylar turned into a driveway that was canopied by trees and I was taken aback by the size of the A-frame house. Skylar noticed and chuckled.

"It looks bigger on the outside." She opened the garage door and pulled the car inside. "Garage takes up almost half the house."

I grabbed my bag and followed her through the door that led into a big kitchen. It was very country, with a small island and wood cabinetry. Hardwood floors ran through the house, with some throw rugs in the living room under a large blue sofa and in front of the fireplace.

Above was a balcony overlooking the living room, with the fireplace crawling up the wall to a ceiling reaching at least twenty feet. It was open and spacious and cool, thanks to the running air conditioner.

"This place is great," I said.

Skylar was busy taking my bag and running up the stairs.

"The bedrooms are upstairs," she yelled, her voice muffled by the vastness of the house.

"How many?"

"Three."

"Jeez," I mumbled and wandered around. I opened the backdoor and a burst of fresh air floated inside. The back deck had wooden chairs and a table, a grill, and a small dock leading out over the lake. Tied to one of the poles was a small rowboat. Out of the corner of my eye I noticed a hot tub.

A beer showed up in front of me. "Did you pack the car and I didn't see?" I happily took the beer and chugged half of it.

"Nope. There's a management company and I have someone come in to clean and stock the place between renters. I had them come up this morning. Lots to drink and grill." She tapped her bottle to mine. "And I had them clean the hot tub," she said and winked.

After a walk through the mountains, a dip in the lake, and grilled steak for dinner, we were resting in the hot tub drinking beer and enjoying the quiet. Candles decorated the tables and deck. Skylar was sitting with her back against my chest, her head resting on my shoulder.

"I get why you love it up here," I said, leaning forward and kissing her neck.

"Mmm."

The lights from the houses mirrored on the lake creating an eerie glow. I could actually see the stars glittering in the dark blue sky above the trees and mountains. It reminded me of being in the hills of Scotland, sitting on the rolling hills and feeling as if I was part of the sky.

"I'm glad you like it."

"I'm not sure I want to leave," I said with a laugh and tightened my grip around her waist. "Are you tired?"

She shook her head. "Oh no. I'm not going to sleep until you're completely satisfied with your birthday."

I plucked the beer bottle from her hand and put it aside along with mine. Twisting her around, I pulled her legs and wrapped them around my waist. Sweat mingled with water and trickled off her shoulders and neck.

"Satisfied, huh?" I kissed her and cupped her bottom.

"Uh huh."

"I don't think I'll ever get tired of kissing you," I said against her mouth.

"I'll never get tired of how you feel inside me."

"Fuck," I groan.

She pulls the strings and pulls off her suit. She inches her way on my lap, in the water creating a stubborn friction. I lift her slightly and slide her on onto my length. She gasped and bit her lip when I pushed inside, her body relaxing.

"You think the neighbors are spying on us with binoculars?" she asked, pressing against me, her breasts flattened against my chest. She moved her hips in slow moving circles. I was taking deep breaths to try and keep myself from coming.

"Maybe. We should put on a good show at least," I said.

Skylar laughed and raked her nails down my back, making me shudder. "I want to keep the house, so you can have your way with me back inside."

"Deal," I moaned. "But let me finish here first."
