(Note: I will be switching between referring to the F4F Wildcat as Martlet and Wildcat. For these last two episodes, they will be referred to as "Wildcats.")

Y/n watched on as twelve Douglas TBD Devastators of VT-3 get shot down one by one while trying to perform their attack runs on the aircraft carrier Hiryū.
But Y/n himself has no time to watch the destruction of the torpedo squadron. His flight was being engaged by 15 to 20 Zeros.
Y/n wasn't flying as the flight leader this time though, that's the responsibility of Lieutenant Commander John Thach, VF-3 squadron commander. Y/n is flying as Thach's wingman for now as Thach's wingman, Ensign R. A. M. Dibb was apparently sick.
Under normal circumstances, Y/n wouldn't be allowed to fly combat missions as he wasn't here officially. But with the personal approval of Nimitz and the officer in tactical command Rear Admiral Frank Jack Fletcher, he was allowed to fly in combat missions with VF-3 as a form of quid pro quo.
However, Y/n was about to find himself in a dangerous situation. A Zero dived down on him and managed to get its sight onto his tail.
Thach: "On your mark, Y/n."

TF 17 based around the Yorktown under Rear Admiral Frank Jack Fletcher has recently rendezvoused with TF 16 based around Enterprise and Hornet under Rear Admiral Raymond A. Spruance.
Y/n can be seen standing on the deck of the Yorktown in his Royal Navy's white uniform. He was quite an unusual sight here. Yorktown came down from the bridge and walked to him.
