Gracie falls into my bed, startling me awake. But instead of her bouncing up and down she nuzzles into my side and sighs. I look down at her with tired eyes, her hair is a complete utter mess.

Her breath is hot on my skin as she climbs under my blanket. I wrap my arms around her, "Good morning love."

She mumbles something and swats my hand away when I run it through her hair. She props herself up on her elbows and blows her hair out of her face. "Stupid sun woke me up."

"Now, now no need to call the sun stupid." I chuckle, pressing my lips on her forehead.

She glares at me, "I could barely sleep. All I could think about was what happened with Bellatrix."

I frown. Of course I'd been up nearly all night in the library, but I was not about to tell Gracie that. "Love, you don't need to worry about that right now."

"Yes we do. Reg, we ran off. You're being searched for by the most dangerous people in the world. We have every reason to worry." She shakes her head.

"Alright so maybe we do. But how about today we don't. Like you just said, we ran off. We're starting over. We're in this new place, and we have a lot of work to do if it's going to be perfect." I whisper, "We will have each other. Isn't that enough?"

She sighs, "Of course it's enough! Merlin it's more than enough! But Reg, I don't want to just abandon my family. Or Lucas for that matter."

"We won't, we'll make sure your family stays safe. I promise."

I start to push myself out of the bed but Gracie pulls me back down, "Can't we just stay here for a while longer? We're not in any rush."

She grins as I lay back down next to her, "Alright a few more minutes. But then we need to go shopping."

Those 'few minutes' turned into a few hours. But we didn't complain as we sat in each other's arms. Eventually though I forced Gracie out of bed and shooed her out of my room to get changed. I quickly took a shower and got dressed. I walked down into the basement and opened the trapdoor, leading into the pet room.

I stopped in front of the Crup's cage and made sure the trap door was closed. I unlocked the cage and watched at the young pup raced around the room at lightning speed. After a few minutes he walked over panting. He sat right on my lap and fell asleep. I smile, and pick him up. I carry him upstairs to see Gracie walk out of her room with a small pouch in hand. She freezes when she sees Pallet in my arms, "Is he going to run all over again?"

I shake my head, "Nope, let him run around downstairs for a while. He's not going anywhere any time soon."

He lets out a small bark as if to confirm. I chuckle handing the pup over. Gracie coos over the creature as I walk back into my own room. Luckily we'd both gotten away with our money yesterday. So we have enough to do some shopping. Enough to hold us over for a few weeks until we find work. I'd managed to get a decent amount out of the Black safe at Gringotts before Mum kicked me out.

Gracie had a lot from her family as well. So we were sitting alright. But we both know we can't go wasting it about.

Gracie also says we should treat ourself today. She has a handful of stores to go to after a wand shop.

I walk out of my room to see Gracie waiting for me. She smiles and opens the door for me dramatically.

"The start of our new lives start today Regulus! We need to make the best of it." She says, her voice confident. We link arms as we start down the hill our house is perched on, toward the town below.

The streets are flooded with people. But Gracie seems confident she knows where she's going. She has to stop a few times to ask directions, relying on me to translate for her. Being my family forced me to learn French from a young age.
