Sirius pov

I see Gary come flying towards me, hooting and I jump off the roof, over the glass from my window. I land down in the bush below me. I grab my luggage already down there and run. I run as fast as I can. Just five more minutes and I'll be with Elspeth and James. I'll finally be safe. But Emma and Regulus are still there. I can't fully leave without them, they're my family. I continue to run until I see Elspeth sitting under a tree reading a book. I walk up and she looks up relived that I was finally here. She jumps up and leaps into my arms clinging to me, "Good to see you too!"

She climbs off me with a huge smile. She grabs one of my luggage bags and starts to pull me along after her. I walk after her limping lightly and we walk to James' which is about an hour away, but we have plenty to talk about.

"How's Emma and Regulus?" She asks humming.

I shrug, "Couldn't talk to them much. But I'm pretty sure they're fine."

"Were there any issues getting out?" She asks looking my full in the eyes.

"Not that I know of! I think it went smoothly." I say smiling to myself, "Well actually I did accidentally shatter my window with my foot. I'm pretty sure Mum tried to come after me."

Elespth's eyes go wide and I quickly cover it up, "But I'm fine. I got out just fine!"

I plant a kiss on her cheek and she glares at me, "Don't try to be all sweet with me. I know something happened or at least happened within the last month. Don't think I haven't noticed your limp."

I stop and she keeps walking so I call after her, but she keeps walking. I run up and grab her arm and yank her back, "Please don't ignore me. Elspeth, please last year was horrible for me, without you!"

Her eyes are still narrowed into slits, "Last year was your fault! And hell, I'm not even mad at you! What I'm mad about is that you tried to ignore the subject! You never talk about what happens there! We all want to help you Sirius why won't you let us?"

"Fine. You wanna know what happened there? She burns me with the family ring on a daily basis whether it was my fault or Regulus'! I get crucciod on a daily basis there. So many damn things happen there. And I'm sick of it! Don't you dare tell me I'm ignoring it, it's all I can think about." I growl at her. With every word I say her eyes grow more and more concerned.

"Sirius—" She says reaching out for me.

I pull away and grab my stuff from her feet and walk ahead of her. The whole rest of the way she doesn't try to catch up to me. I didn't want her to anyway. I walk up to James' gate and open it walking up to his house. I set one of my bags down and knock. James' Mum opens the door and lets me in. She points me in the direction of James' room and I walk in and work my way up there. I hear Elspeth walk through the gate and walk carefully up to the house. I continue to walk up the stairs to James' room. I knock and push the door open to see him laying in his bed reading a quidditch magazine. He looks up and smiles then looks behind me frowning, "Where's Elspeth?"

"Where do you want me to put my stuff?" I ask changing the subject quickly.

Clearly James accepts it because he gets up waving for me to follow him. We walk down the hall and he push open the door to reveal a semi small room with a bed in the middle, "This'll be your room if you'd like! Mum says you can decorate it yourself!"

I walk around the room smiling, "Tell her thanks for me would you? I also owe all the rest of you a thanks as well for helping me!"

James shrugs from the doorway smiling, "It's no issue and why can't you tell her yourself?"

"I-I- I don't really know? I guess I'm just used to not having a Mum to thank." I say putting my bags on the bed.

James nods, "I'll be downstairs in the kitchen helping with supper if you feel like coming down."

I nod and start to unpack my stuff. I walk over to the small closet by the door and put what little I brought in. I hear a knock on my door and I turn to see Elspeth standing in the doorframe with her arms cross. I turn away from her and I hear the door slam. I whip around ready to face my Mum. Instead of her feeling sorry for me, Elspeth walks at me with her eyes narrowed, "You don't get to mad at me because I care! I'm sick of this Sirius, face me like the person you are!"

I can tell she's desperate by her shrill voice. I turn to face her like she asked, "I'm not mad okay?"

"Sure seems that you are!" She mutters looking down.

I sigh grabbing her chin lifting it up, "I promise I'm not! I was simply irritated that you pointed out what I was trying to ignore. I reacted unfairly and I'm sorry."

She grabs my hand leaning into my, "I was so scared you wouldn't come. Or that you'd get caught and they would—" Her voice breaks.

I look down at her and she has tears streaming down her face. I guide her to my bed and we lay down. I let me cry into my shoulder as I stroke her hair. We sit like this till James comes to get us, "Hey! Mum says dinner is ready-"

He sees Elspeth and smiles, "At least you made up! I'll tell Mum you'll be down soon!"

He backs out of the room and I rub Elspeth back, "Love? Suppers ready!"

She groans into me, "Do we have to go down?"

"It is the polite thing to do yes. We can come back up later okay?"

She nods and gets up dragging me with her. This is what I've always wanted, to be happy away from Hogwarts.
