I stand up rushing after the young Slytherin, "Lucas!"

He keeps walking down the hall ignoring me. I finally step in front of him, he tries to step around me but I block his path again, "Come on, talk to me."

He shakes his head, "Leave me alone."

"You know I can't do that."

"Really? Because you just said you were going to leave." He mumbles keeping his head down.

I bite my lip, "I know you understand why. And I'm sorry, but we need to leave."

"You don't have to explain yourself to me." He sidesteps, still trying to get around me.

"Yes I do. Surely you know why we're leaving?"

He nods but keeps his mouth shut. "Alright then you do understand. It may not be the best choice but it's one that will keep people safe."

He sighs, "Yeah I understand it, doesn't mean that I like it."

"I'm not asking you to. I'm asking you to support us in this choice." I watch as he slides down the wall.

I sit beside him when I see the tears in his eyes, "We'll be back once this blows over. Then maybe things will be easier."

"That it isn't it." He whispers, "We don't even know if things will get better. Let alone when. Even then things might not be better."

"They will get better. You just have to believe it. And you're right, nobody knows when but it will happen. I promise you that." I mutter leaning my head back against the cold stone wall behind me.

"Don't promise something like that. I've heard it before and then they broke it." Lucas snaps.

I glance at him, "What do you mean?"

"Forget it." He says his face still red.

"Oh no, you have to tell me now."

He wrings his hands, "My brother. Killed himself after promising he was done with that stuff. He just walked into the middle of the street and bam..."

His voice trails off leaving the two of us in silence. I wait a few heartbeats before talking again, "Well I'm just learning all kinds new things about you today."

He struggles to offer a small smile, "I guess you are. It's not like I was hiding it though."

"It happens that way a lot, doesn't it? When you try to hide something, everyone finds out. But when you don't, nobody knows." I mutter.

He chuckles, "It's weird isn't it?"

I look over at him, "Want to go finish this?"

I nod back to where we'd come from. He shrugs, "I guess."

I help him to his feet. He walks quietly beside me, "You won't dissapear right?"

I hesitate, "I can't promise that. But know I don't want to."

"You of all people should want to. I'll be here waiting."

"I know you will be." I whisper as we walk back into the library.

Gracie has her head propped up in her hand, looking half asleep. But she sits up instantly when she sees us, "You're back."

"We're back." I reply with a smile.

She nods returning the smile, "So I was reading through this and I was thinking. If we used this in the potion it could help level everything. The only thing is, its not full time. It lasts maybe a month before wearing off."
