Five years ago, things were... "normal."

"I don't want to lose you again..."

Sure... monsters roamed the lands, there was literal HELL and other dimensions... but to most, this was normal.

"LET ME GO!"

Five years ago, the normal turned abnormal.

"If you don't mind me asking... what happened to team 3?"

It started out small. Taking over the world little by little.

He missed it so much that it hurt. It wasn't that the city life was uncomfortable to him, it just wasn't right.

Now you may ask, what was this mysterious force that you seem to be talking about?

My dear reader... zombies.

Dream gasped at the persons voice though his headset. Shock. Disbelief.

No one knew how it started, or when exactly it started.

But then they started biting other mobs.

"Hang in there buddy. You are going to be okay. I promise."

"We promise."

Now you would think that it wouldn't be such a big deal, but here's the unusual thing.

Zombies infected them.

They grew stronger.

"Do you not trust me?"

But luckily, humanity could handle it. They built walls and fought against the odds.

Then the second wave rolled around.

And the zombies begun infecting humans.

The man peeked out of the shadows, another man at his side.

"WHOA WHOA. Put the sword down, I'm on your side."

It was like this for 2 years.

No one could go out to get wood or food. No one could go down into caves. No one wanted to go out anywhere anymore.

His screaming and wailing were deadly cut off, replaced with a soft empty void.

Until... 3 years ago.

3 years ago, someone found a resistance. A cure some would say. An answer. The solution.

Sure it was temporary, but it was the hope people needed.

Dream was brought back into the moment and looked up at his boss. No, he was definitely hiding something behind that smile.

But nothing is real.

"We... we just can't."

"So you lied to me."

So here we are.

3 whole years.

3 whole years since the apocalypse was declared over.

3 whole years of people not worrying about a force coming to over take them.

"I've been telling them for the last 1095 days... there is no 'happy ever after' in an apocalypse."

That is...

Until Day 1095.
