Alina

"What does that have to do with me?" I frowned.

Neil raised an eyebrow while Luke stood next to him with a scowl on his face. He narrowed his eyes and glared at me. An awkward silence surrounded us as we all continued our little stare game.

"I knew it!" Luke suddenly shouted, grabbing our full attention.

"Know what?" Both Neil and I said in unison.

What was going on inside his head?

Frankly, I don't know. - Neil mind-linked.

Did you feed him his own cooked greeneries? Or is it his head going through the phase of heat? - I asked.

Heat? - A smile appeared on his face.

"I can hear you both, you know," Luke growled. He narrowed his eyes and glared at us, "I don't cook that bad."

If only his glare could kill and his cooking skills were good.

"I knew that it's hard to convince you." He sighed, running his hand through his tousled hair.

"Then why are you trying to?" I raised an eyebrow.

The point he wanted to prove made no sense to me. Maybe because there was no actual point, to begin with. Luke's behaviour towards me changed after he announced my parents' death. At first, I thought he was giving me space, for my sake, to get over the grief of my loss but then after being neglected tonnes of times and having to deal with his mood swings, I could tell something was wrong. He was not his normal cheerful self.

Maybe he just doesn't feel the same way about us anymore. - My wolf stated.

Being an Alpha brought in a lot of responsibilities and I was aware of that. Even though I have had known him for three years now, I had never seen this tensed version of his. It seemed like something was bothering him. Something he didn't want to share.

"You're not getting the point, Alina." He sighed. He shook his head, "You need to understand."

"Luke, what's going on?"

"I'm not lying about the myth." He yelled, his eyes filled with rage.

"I never said you were." I defended myself.

"Can you just stop being so hard on me?" He muttered.

"So you like it soft?" I winked, trying to enlighten the heavy frustration filled atmosphere surrounding us.

A chuckle erupted but much to my disappointment it was not from Luke.

"What's wrong with you?" I asked, looking at him. He was not his normal self today and that I was sure of. His attractive smile was gone and what remained behind was nothing more than a frown. He looked stressed, his eyes dark and skin pale.

"Why are you taking all this so lightly?" He condemned. His nose scrunched up in disgust.

"Okay, fine. Now tell me what's bothering you." I said, shifting my seated position on the bed, allowing enough space for them.
